Skylake build boot issues

Hi guys,

I need your help as soon as possible.

So, long story short, I've got a new system (for work, not my own), and I can't boot (always reboot half way on the boot process) UNLESS I boot in Safe Mode. That's the only mode I can use to boot. I'm booted like this right now.

System configuration is:

1. Mobo: GA-Z170-Gaming K3

2. CPU: i5 6600K

3. 16 GB DDR4 RAM

4. GPU: GTX 950

5. Boot manager: Clover (latest version)

Note:

1. I already installed Nvidia Web driver. But since I installed it in Safe Mode....I'm not sure it was installed correctly.

2. I tried booting with flags "nv_disable=1" and "nvda_drv=1". No change. It just goes into KP and reboots after a short while.

3. I'm using an already installed OS. Basically I replaced all the HW, but kept the same software. So I'm sure there might be some tweaking that have to be made in Clover config and stuff like that. But for that, I need to be able to at least boot in single-user to be able to Mount the EFI partition and edit whatever in config.

Any idea how I can boot in normal mode? Apparently I can't even boot using the iGPU... Not sure Intel HD Graphics 530 is supported by Apple driver. Probably not.

So anyway, how do I boot in normal mode? That would be the first issue.

Second issue: how to boot with two monitors (main DVI, second VGA with adapter to DVI)?

Video of the issue here (in any boot mode other than Safe Mode).

hi..

try with flag "dart=0" too..

I heard el capitan10.11.5 supports HD530..google..

c.frio

Unfortunately "dart=0" didn't make any difference... And I'm on 10.11.5...But..who knows... With the iGPU, I just get a blinking cursor. I don't even land on Clover UI.

With the GTX 950 at least I can go through Clover UI and I can boot in Safe Mode.

Any other idea?

By the way, I uploaded a video of the issue on the first post, if that helps in any way.

Booting from SSD.

Yes, SIP is ok (untouched since previous hardware)

The Nvidia driver is already the latest version 346.03.10f02

Booting with 950 and nvda_drv=1 I get the exact same behavior. Reboot after getting into a KP.351410ab115018256736054a2fc82c7a.jpg

What system def are you using? May have to change that for skylake to boot correctly.

macpro3,1. How can I change anything without mounting the EFI partition?

What exactly should be disabled?

hi..

check at bios, if you have something about serial and parallel port enabled than disable those...

like this

Super IO Con guration

Sets system Super I/O chip parameters including LPT and COM ports. Press <Enter>

to enter the sub-menu.

Serial (COM) Port 0 Configuration
Sets detailed con guration of serial(COM) port x. Press <Enter> to enter the sub-

menu.

Serial (COM) Port 0 [Enabled] Enables or disables serial (COM) port x.

Serial (COM) Port 0 Settings [Auto]
Sets serial port x (COM). If set to Auto, BIOS will optimize the IRQ automatically or

you can set it manually.

Parallel (LPT) Port Configuration
Sets detailed con guration of parallel port (LPT). Press <Enter> to enter the sub-

menu.

Parallel (LPT) Port [Enabled] Enables or disables parallel(LPT) port.

Parallel (LPT) Port Settings [Auto]

Boot with clover usb

Can't boot with clover USB for the same reason why I can't boot directly from the SSD, :) It wouldn't boot in normal mode.

@c.frio will check.

Update:

@c.frio: NO FREAKING WAY!!!!! IT WORKS!!!!! In normal mode!! No flags, no nothing. Not to mention I also have first AND second boot logo. :D And since now I was able to enable the Nvidia drivers that I installed, I also have native resolution and acceleration!

I only had Super IO Configuration in my bios. And disabled it.

Also, not sure it had any effect, but I enabled ErP in Power Management section since I saw some errors there when booting in verbose mode.

So... we are half way there.

Thank you so so much!

Now, the other half is....do you happen to know how to make it work with dual monitors? :D

hi...

good to know... :D

I use 2 monitors on gtx650..one DVI other VGA

I didn't make not special...just pluged...

c.frio

now i have a new issue. i don't even know how the hell is it even possible. i can't finish booting anymore. it just hangs in loading.... in verbose it's the old line with MissingBluetoothController.

this usually happens when you don't have FakeSMC kext. But I never removed mine. it should still be there!! what the hell is going on? and why on earth do i have 20 boot entries with the exact same content when I only have 2 drives connected to my pc? sometimes I think newer motherboards are just more stupid than the old ones.
