Broadcom BCM943602CS Not Working in Mavericks - Need Driver

Hey guys,

 

I am trying to get my BCM943602CS to work in mavericks. I thought it would work OOB like it did in Yosemite but no such luck thus far. Googling around I found a couple links to drivers but the links are all dead I also found this http://forum.osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2925-bluetooth-firmware-uploader/  but can't tell if it will support my card or not. It references the "4360" not sure if that is shorthand or a completely different model.

Just an update of any one stumbles upon this thread. I've been doing a lot of reading and it looks like Apple made a wifi change between Mavericks and Yosemite. So the CS version of this card is not compatible. I found a work around but it sounds like a hassle for everyday use. I will try it and report back just to get things setup.

I went and bought the original 4360 and an atheros 9280. Going to test which works better.

I'll give it a try. The card I have supposedly only works OOB Yosemite and higher. When I had Yosemite installed it worked fine. Had to down grade because of my motherboard. So my assumption is using snow leopard kext is going to be similar kext as what Mavericks already has as the wifi change was made when Yosemite came out. I'll be at the machine and will try it anyways. I appreciate any suggestions until the new card comes!

Exist there now a way to support the Apple Broadcom BCM943602CS 802.11ac & Bluetooth 4.1 combo card in Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks? I ask because I search for the future a good 802.11ac & BT 4.x upgrade solution for older Apple iMac computers. Well, It should also run in Mavericks. Until now I use the BCM94360CSAX combo card which has Bluetooth 4.0 instead of 4.1. I can confirm that the BCM94360CSAX card works perfectly on older Aluminum iMacs with Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks (and later). That card should even also work with Mac OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. The Windows driver support of the BCM94360CSAX (10 & 8.x) card is also great. In this regard the BCM943602CS is (officially) limited to Windows 10 and OS X Yosemite (and later). Interestingly there are some rumors that at least some features of the upcoming Bluetooth 4.2 standard can be implemented by a software / firmware update. Apple has shown this at some of his 2015 iPhone models: https://9to5mac.com/2015/10/09/bluetooth-4-2-iphone-6-ipad-air-2/

 

Regarding the hardware specification it can be said that the Broadcom BCM20702B0 SoC which is integrated on the BCM94360CSAX combo card is officially only BT 4.0 capable. The Broadcom BCM20703 SoC which is present on the BCM943602CS card has official BT 4.1 level. Full Bluetooth 4.2 compliant are all newer Broadcom SoC chip's like BCM20704 and later. It seems that total Bluetooth 4.2 performance can only be reached with new hardware.
