Hi all,

I've bought a new laptop and would like to make a Hackintosh out of this as I have had in my old notebook. Before I would try around big I wanted to see if anyone has already had experience with this Ultrabook or whether it is all about demand. I've already tried iATKOS_L2 but it didn't work. Anyone who had an idea?

Thank You for the Help. I tried it but when i want to start the installation from my USB-Stick it stucks at the Kernel-Panic Picture and when i Boot Verbose it stucks at "System uptime in nanoseconds:"
Anyone an idea?

I mad it^^ Had to take this Boot Flag: cpus=1
And now it's loading.

Yeah follow the m6-1045dx guide on this site for the installation part, post installation ehhh might not work for your laptop, but they're close enough for the primary install.

Specifically, I'd try booting with -v and cpus=1 and as for the "still waiting on root device" thing, make sure your USB drive installer is plugged in to a USB 2.0 port, it won't work on the 3.0 SuperSpeed ports. If, when you get to the install screen your hard drive doesn't show up, even in disk utility, then you need the AppleAHCIport.kext from the m6-1045dx guide.  Install it into the S/L/E of your USB installer.

EDIT: Make sure you use Kext Wizard!

Tried didn't work too. USB Stick is plugged in into USB 2.0.

Do have the possibility to set USB 3.0 ports to USB 2.0? If it is there, try to set them to USB 2.0.

Oh no I remember this, I got the Still Waiting for Root Device when I updated from 10.8 to 10.8.2. It's your kernel, you need a kernel for 10.8.2...

Unless your USB installer is based on 10.8? What did you use to make the USB installer, myHack or uni.b.e.a.s.t?

The only option i have is to set the USB3.0 Configuration from Enabled which is the Default or the Auto. Tried both but still not working.

Unless your USB installer is based on 10.8? What did you use to make the USB installer, myHack or uni.b.e.a.s.t?

Tried it with "ML 10.8.2 mach_kernel_lapic_fix" from www.osx86.net but still "Waiting for Root Device".

I tried with myHack and with an manually creating with the Guide from above.

Uni.b.e.a.s.t. i didn't tried at the moment. Will be the next thing i try.

What (Intel I assume) chipset do you have? HM77 "Panther Point"?  Ivy Bridge i5 3210M processor I assume? Pretty much all of HP's laptops for the pat two quarters have been either AMD A8/A10/A12 based or Intel Ivy Bridge i5/i7 based, so I assume you have an i5, if it's an i5 it's almost certainly a 3210M.

We also have the same BIOS, particularly that USB 3.0 thing, and my Hackintosh setup has no effect from that setting, Auto or otherwise, it still boots into OSX with no issues.

Did you install the modified-for-RAID AppleACPIPort.kext from the guide I linked before to your USB installer? You must use KextWizard to do this.

How are you accessing OSX to make the USB installer, VM or a legit Mac?

What USB drive are you using? Include brand (Lexar, SanDisk, HP, etc.), size and whether it's USB 3.0.

Yeah nevermind on the specs, you have a less-powerful Ivy Bridge i5 but the same Panther Point HM77 chipset.

I have an OS X Lion VM.

The USB Stick is an: Super Talent Pico_C with 32 GB and USB 2.0.

I will try today that with the KextWizard and maybe Uni.b.e.a.s.t..

Tried with KextWizard but still the same.

With Uni.b.e.a.s.t. and Kext Wizard i had some new lines but stil "Waiting for Root Device"

I mean it sounds like you're using a USB 3.0 port, it really does.  I'm not saying you're incompetent or anything, but are you ABSOLUTELY SURE you're using your ultrabook's only USB 2.0 port?  Because that's like legit the only thing I can think of it being.

Yeah i'm sure it's an USB 2.0 Port because it has only 4 Pins and USB 3.0 has 8 Pins.

Tried it now with Kakewalk. And with this it Stops at the System Uptime in nanoseconds. :/

Try this two kexts, put in Extra/Extensions or S/L/E of your USBInstaller

Yeah that's 2.0 lol...  Perhaps, if the above doesn't work, try Lion or Snow Leopard? Don't be too discouraged, you can probably update to Mountain Lion, won't be cake but it's better than a black screen with white text.

Could  the Problem be that my Ultrabook has a preloaded Windows and that the Disk is MBR formatted instead of GUID? If yes can i just format one Partition as GUID or must the whole Disk new formatted?

Sorry for taking a break from InsanelyMac for a while!  No, the HDD has nothing to do with this, "waiting for root device" with a USB installer basically means that the USB port the flash drive is plugged into is not functioning properly with OS X/the installer.  In other words, the installer, which has been loaded onto the RAM of the ultrabook, can no longer see the flash drive on the USB bus/chipset, it's not being detected.

This is especially true of USB 3.0 because, at least last I checked, USB 3.0 doesn't work right on Hackintoshes, except with USB 3.0 devices.  I suppose you might try a USB 3.0 flash drive in a USB 3.0 port, but I'm not sure, since you can't get this 2.0 drive to boot in a 2.0 port.

Again, really weird situation, it's a perfectly-hackintoshable ultrabook..... Try, when it gets to waiting for root device, plugging the flash drive into EVERY USB port, yes the 3.0 ports, when you plug it in to each, wait a minute, if you have a flash drive that lights up, it should start flashing almost immediately, if it does not, you can move on to the next port.  Otherwise, give it a minute in each port!

I own almost the same notebook as the OP: HP ENVY Sleekbook 6-1151er instead of OP's HP ENVY Ultrabook 6-1076ez. The difference is not that crucial, there is a discrete Radeon graphics in mine. I am gathering a useful information piece by piece about these recent HP's Ultra/Sleekbooks and seems like everyone experiences the same problems. "Still waiting for root device" is one of them. I wonder if OP has managed to start the installer and what tricks he used.

Sir, you are absolutely right! I've just applied GenericUSBXHCI.kext via Kext Wizard and 'Welcome screen' appeared. I've used flags -v cpus=1 GraphicsEnabler=no.
So, here's another obstacle on my way — Disk Utility not sees my HDD. Seems like I need to apply one more kext.
