Hello

Trying the install on to A Samsung NP550...

Install finishes fine but then hit the error in the image attachment when reboot.

I boot using the USB and use the switches:

GraphicsEnabler=No -v

help needed  - thanks,

Ten minutes later...

Also just tried AHCIPortInjector.kext from here.

and the recommended boot up:

-f -v GraphicsEnabler=No npci=0x2000

might be getting further ?? seeing this now:

Thanks I'll keep looking...  know of any decent ones ?

I changed in the mean time the /Extra/smbios.plist to use MacBookPro8,2 MacBookPro9,2 since using Ivy Bridge CPU and gets perhaps a bit further... then again may be I am being too optimistic....

try this boot flag for test:

-f -v GraphicsEnabler=Yes PciRootUID=1 npci=0x2000
-x -f -v GraphicsEnabler=No PciRootUID=0 npci=0x3000

and post results!!!

I have a basic working system with no wireless nor optimal graphics

The Ethernet adapter I thought would be first of all since wireless isn't appearing under networking however have u seen anything like this before where the Adapter is shown as connected, I have Manually configured however no networking is possible.

Similarly if I left it to get an address assigned via DHCP it would only get a 169.172 private address assigned...


As for the boot loader I tried install Chimera (both from EasyBeast as well as dedicated installer) however the disk appears to be untouched afterwards

i.e.

No /Extra folder no contents is created...

v. strange.

I ran the System Info tool - not sure whether it needs a online connection to really lookup the devices.

No luck getting the ethernet working....

Most confused since what I can see it should be working. lspci output at the top of thread shows:

03:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller [10ec:8168] (rev 06)

Similarly System Info out put shows that the device is loaded.... the Ethenet is configurable in Network preferences however no pinging or lookups working. Also Network Utility shows no sent packages nor any errors.

Seriously out of ideas : (

The IO80211Family kext installed is version 5.0. The AirAtheros40 kext within does not have an Info.plist - see screenshot Screen Shot 2012-08-30 at 6.13.19 PM

I put earlier version 4.2 in place (fixed permisions) and made the edit then rebooted see screenshot Screen Shot 2012-08-30 at 6.09.30 PM.

No wireless... yet....

Nope no wireless.

Would "Safe Boot" be causing this  ?

No IO80211Family nor AppleAtheros40 kexts appear to be loaded....

sudo dmesg shows

SAFE BOOT DETECTED - only vaild OSBundleRequired kexts will be loaded.

will try booting using:

update for 10.8.1 and your card have support , this kext is 10.8.1 you have repair permissions?


yes, if you boot in safe boot not load the kexts

yes I have repaired permssions and rebuilt kext cache using Champlist.

rebooting without "-x" option leaves me on stuck (see screenshot)

Is this error due there being no suppported power management ?

BTW I have already done the 10.8.1 update.

ok, backup this kext AppleIntelCPUPowerManegement.kext and delete from S/L/E  repairPermissions and reboot

Found this somewhere. Use with caution.

MBP10,1 is the Retina while 9,1 and 9,2 is normal macbookpros with IVY BRIDGE

yes I found these too and tried them back but still got the "UNknon CPU model" error.

Just tying to boot with out "-x" option with the AppleCPUManagement kext gone....
