Using a sapphire HD6870 1GB once I've installed (i.e. remove ati6000controller then installed then re-added it) it will boot with chameleon and and graphicsenabler=no happily. Editing my org.chameleon.boot.plist to graphicsenabler=yes personality=duckweed and use atirom has no difference - the card works perfect with either. I've tested HDMI and DVIx2 but not DP

Anything that brings you towards an understanding of the issue,
and develop an Intuition what can/should be done and how it works.
OSX has a clear and beautiful inner Design like the Desktop Candy.
Thats the hackintoshing fun
..well, at least for me, but looking at this forum and similiar, I think I'm not alone :-)

I followed your guidelines and put personalities and many like duckweed, bulrush and more but no luck.I can boot in -v -f with GE=no all i have is low resolution with choppy graphics. The card is not even recognized i think.
All this on a display port.Let me know what you think .

It seems half of the problem has been solved and the card has been show on system info both in display and PCI card info and this happens only when i boot in safe mode - v -x -f.When i boot with -v -f i get Aty_init starting then it stuck.Any more ideas?I used Duckweed and 4 ports.

With graphics enabler yes stuck in Aty_init.kext starting.

I will reinstall and place your kext and let see the results.

I got my 6850 (MSI R6850 Cyclone) working:
I removed the device ID from the ATI6000Controller to run the installer (boot with -x and GraphicsEnabler=No). Before i only had a white screen.
After the installation i went back to Lion and added the device ID into the AMDRadeonAccelerator and ATI6000Controller kext in /S/L/E of my Mountain Lion volume.
