x1a0
Hi, I found a DSDT patch for my Asus P8P67 Deluxe from http://olarila.com/forum/packs.php. I used DSDT Editor to extract a DSDT file and patched it. When compiling it said there are 18 errors however I guess it fixed them automatically~ then I put the generated dsdt.aml file under /Extra. My question is: How can I tell the dsdt.aml is useful and working? If I have a working dsdt.aml, should I change anything in my system? (e.g. I remember in some cases when I install some kexts, it said if you do NOT have DSDT then you need to install some Enabler.kext. So am I supposed to remove those enabler extension now?) Thanks! Gringo Vermelho
You need to be more specific, what did you patch?
x1a0
Actually before patching I think most devices are already working well. I am just feeling dsdt.aml is sort of a "better" solution so I applied the patch and generated dsdt.aml. The patch is specifically for this motherboard so I guess... it patched most stuff...? (sorry I really don't know)
Gringo Vermelho
If you can't tell me the purpose of the patches you have applied I can't give you a meaningful answer.
x1a0
Hmm... This is the patch file: P8P67 DELUXE Let's say I want to patch for my audio. Although I have my audio working but I think there is a better way to go with DSDT. Thanks!
Gringo Vermelho
The best way is the one that works for you. If you "think" there is a better way, then you need to read more until you "know" that there is a better way. Otherwise you can quickly make things worse! The generic DSDT HDEF device is a replacement for HDAEnabler.kext. It is not a driver. HDEF device/HDAEnabler.kext allows AppleHDA.kext to load, but the vast majority of users will still need to patch AppleHDA.kext as well. Only a small handful of on board audio devices will work with an unpatched AppleHDA.kext. If you are using VoodooHDA.kext for audio you should not use HDAEnabler.kext or add/patch the HDEF device in DSDT. Worst case, this will make AppleHDA.kext and VoodooHDA.kext load at the same time and cause a kernel panic during boot, rendering your system unbootable until you fix it one way or the other.
