Theenlightened06
Guys, I am really sorry, if this is a repost. But I am heavily Confused here. I was an Old Hack Mac user so I would like to clarify I aint a Noob. The Thing is I am Into MUSIC production, And my upgraded mac book black is kinda lagging out on me. I really want to know If I should wait for the 2012 refresh or build my own machine. If so can anyone gimme the list of the best rig i can Build designed for specifically for Audio. Thanks A lot. Foxic
Personally I would build my own. This way you can buy a dedicated soundcard and run midi inputs etc. No chance of that with an iMac. iMacs arent particularly quick and are very limited in terms of RAM. For the price of a bottom spec 21.5" you could build a 'Mac' that would wipe the floor with a top spec 27" iMac. e.g. Geekbench scores iMac (27-inch Mid 2011) Intel Core i7-2600 3.4 GHz (4 cores) 11581 The 'Mac' in my signature: i7 920 @ 3.4GHz: 11996 @3.8GHz 13200 and it cost me less that £1000 to put that together (about a year and a half ago). It also has 6 RAM DIMMS, 7 expansion ports (3 PCI E 16), a shed load of USB ports, 2 Ethernet ports, a decent firewire port, 6 3.5mm audio outputs, 1 digital out.
