  1. Make sure your username is in lower case or it’ll mess with APFS and you’ll end up having to re-format and start fresh. This happened on my MacBook Pro so at least I knew about it before I updated my hack. Make sure to put apfs.efi (from final/gm) in clover/drivers or clover won’t be able to see apfs. Pretty easy upgrade (easier than on my MacBook anyway), I didn’t even have to update fakesmc.
  2. This is often due to bios settings, post a photo of each bios page. I had this problem with a few laptops and found excecute-disable bit capability needs to be available
  3. Have you tried loading optimised defaults and then resetting your bios options? Sometimes different bios versions take different overclock settings. If all else fails you could just flash your old bios back if you can find a copy online

    GUI development tool

Easy. Make an app iOS/android based around a database and in a standardised fashion, then make a seperate application OS X/Linux/windows that populates the database. You can then export an apk or an Xcode proj and then compile the Xcode proj on a mac (if the rest of it isn't being done in a mac)

All pretty simple. I've combined various guides and resources, found the missing scripts from a few Russian guides and translated everything into English. I've created a GitHub project for it here --> https://github.com/F0x1c/AppleALC_Instructions

    El Capitan AppleHDA HDMI Audio

Back to VoodooHDA it is, never mind, thanks for trying.

Definitely no other EFI partition. Only 1 HDD installed, nothing plugged in via USB.

Could you point me to any? I wouldn't know what to search for in Russian. Everything is difficult until you know the answer, then it's easy! Like most things, it's not magic, just logic.
  11. Why not do that side of things from an Ubuntu live USB?
  12. Thanks but the problem isn't OS related. I can't get the system to post with it installed. I can't even get as far as the BIOS. I'll do you one better, here's my original build thread from 5 years ago --> http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/282917-watercooled-g5-mod/ Since then it's had a x5670, a better pump, new fans, a deeper rad, SSD, USB 3 card, wifi card and I've replaced the PSU.

Isn't the whole philosophy of 'open source' meant to prevent situations like this? Maybe someone should document the process of extracting and adding an audio codec, then anyone could do it.

Internal speakers are recognised in syspref > sound but nothing else at all under input or output. Is there any chance AppleALC with layout I'd 28 (0x1C) would be conflicting with HDMI audio?

    El Capitan AppleHDA HDMI Audio

I've removed everything from Clover/ACPI/patched except the DSDT you've provided (attached) to avoid any conflicts and exported another IOReg (attached). I have no sound with this DSDT, System Information shows Audio Layout ID 0. I've tried adding device HDAU and fully populating GFX0 (DSDT_HDMI11 and DSDT_HDMI12), both DSDTs attached. With DSDT_HDMI11 and onboard-1 defined in HDAU and GFX0 I have no sound at all. With DSDT_HDMI12 and onboard-2 defined in HDAU and GFX0 I only have sound on the internal speakers. Would the AppleALC layout ID I'm using (28/1C) cause any issues? HDMI Audio was working under Lion using VoodooHDA, after updating to Sierra the VoodooHDA I was using no longer worked. I tried updating to the newest revision and same thing. IOReg.zip DSDT_HDMI11.aml.zip DSDT_HDMI12.aml.zip DSDT.aml.zip
