Anyone have success with this laptop?

Even using iBoot I can not get the OSX Retail disc to run.

I've tried with GraphicsEnabler=no, maxmem=4096, -v, -x, and combinations of each.

Anyone have a success story here?  If so, a mini guide would be MUCH appreciated.  I'm sure there are a lot of people with this laptop just itching to make a MacBook Pro out of it.

hey m8...

try adding the following switches:

cpus=1 busratio=XX

XX is a number - look at the image I attached <CREADITS 3rr0rists.net>


If iBoot not working well try other bootcd like Nawcom and Chameleon boot loader using an installer from windows.

1 more thing - Nawcom have USB booting method (i haven't tried), but i know for most of the bootloader works only WHEN THEY BURNED ON CD/DVD...

detri mental,
I have the GX660R and the above boot line works everytime, so it may be difficult to offer any help. Have you set AHCI in BIOS?
Maybe post a picture of the KP you get.

I don't own the particular PC you need help with, but I own a PC with a setup that matches a bit. I have the same CPU, 4GB RAM, ATI HD5650/Intel HD Graphics, and I use EmpireEFI Legacy Boot CD to get into the install DVD. At drive select, I mark Mac OS X Install DvD, and then type -v busratio=19 cpus=1.
That worked for me. Try it.

No success here... Still get the same message, no matter what.  Tried using a 10.6.0 retail disc as well, to no avail.  Tried multiple boot discs also.

This is with ACPI enabled.

"Unable To Find Driver For This Platform: \"ACPI\".\n"

No go.

Tried all of the above. Failed.

Have found other users proclaiming to have got my laptop working throughout these forums namely 'xorxorxor'  but have not yet dug deeply enough into this resource to find the start of their odyssey.

I'll be back or I'll give up and trade in for a Mac  ;/

have you tried nawcom's boot cd, as pointed out by night_mare007? also, as mentioned by idoc, have you set SATA to AHCI in bios? but you did say ACPI enabled or was that AHCI?  

a picture of the error would be nice.

Most limited BIOS ever, by the way.  The only thing even close is the ACPI setting, which is enabled.

  I'm not really sure but the kernel panic (kp) might be caused by   evoreboot.kext.   There was a guy, over at tonymacx86's website, who had   a similar problem.  And he solved it by doing a fresh install using   iboot supported.
    
    But didn't you say your problem was not being able to boot the retail   disc using iboot and other boot cd?  Are you using a modified OS X DVD install? Your darwin kernel version is 10.7.3.
  
Is your bios updated to the latest version? Have you tried booting with one bank of ram, so you'll just have 4gb instead of 8gb?

I've definitely seen that error on my gx660r.
I think I got around it by booting from a usb dvd drive rather than the bluray drive.
I use a 10.6.3 retail disk.

I can't see how doing that would work, either... I used the .iso in VirtualBox and get the same message, so I don't think that has anything to do with it.  I also don't have any huge USB sticks sitting around

Anyone else have any ideas?

   I used iBoot LEGACY and Snow Leopard retail disc.

Regular iBoot didn't work for my machine. Yes you must use ACPI.
