I was able to install but when I was trying to install the kext files I tried to drop and drag to terminal causing kernel panic. I'm going to try again on Friday when I have more time. At least I know it works.
One question. Does Chameleon install to the HDD that I install OSX onto?

Ok, I'm done for the night. I tried twice but couldn't get it going. I need some quick advice on some steps. The second time I installed I somehow was unable to use my keyboard or my touchpad, and trying to fix permissions natively with it effectively made it boot forever.
So here are the steps and questions I have on each one:
14. Install rest of Kexts (voodooHDA, Applehdadisabler, LAN, wifi)
Does that mean all the rest of the options available in multibeast? I tried to install them all after I reboot and it caused a failure of the keyboard and touchpad. I was able to use my mouse and the keyboard off my iMac. I know I need to install the 3 from the first post, but what other options do I check? All except for "all misc except EvOReboot and NULLCPU and USB 3.0" posted on page 7?
15. Place DSDT in extra folder. in prefpane of chameleon, select DSDT that you will be using.
What is the DSDT? Do I need to use it, because my G73 was booting up just fine without it.
I think that is it for now. I'll try on Friday as I'm beat from a long day at work.
Thanks in advance.
Edit*
This morning I decided to take off from work and stay home to try again (I'm the boss ;-D). So now I am typing from my G73JH Hackintosh. I still don't know what the DSDT is, my backlight doesn't work, and I can't connect to my wireless N network, but I'm sure they will all be solved in time. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE!!
Is there a kext I can install to allow me to use the volume buttons on the keyboard? Also, when I look at my specs it says ATI 5000 instead of 5870, how can I fix it? And finally how do I make the audio louder. I installed the applehda disabler kext, and voodoohda 2.2 should I update to the most recent one?

If your computer is fine without the dsdt then you don't need one. But maldron can help out with the dsdt stuff.
Changing from 5000 to 5870 will not benefit you in anyway except from the text so dont worry about that. Someone said that the older drivers will work with steam though so if you want to play steam on osx (i have no earthly idea why you wouldn't just play on windows) you should install the old boot instead of the one from multibeast.
You make the audio lower by moving the volume slider. The keyboard shortcuts do not work.

The rest of the kexts means the ones listed. Not from multibeast. That would essentially be installing every kext there is when your computer only has so many components to it. If I don't tell you to install, then you probably don't need it.

Hi there,
This is my first post. I want to start off by saying a big THANKYOU to all those that posted the steps, guides, solutions and experience setting up Mac OSX on the Asus G73JH (I have very similar hardware specs as everyone else posted). I was originally thinking of trying out Mac OS on my Alienware m11x, but was disappointed the built in wifi wasn't supported. Googled my other laptop ASUS G73JH and to my surprise you guys had got almost everything working. Mac OSX looks better on a bigger screen anyway.
I read all of this thread and successfully got Snow Leopard 10.6.7 working with Quartz, Wifi, Spdif, audio, Mic, webcam, touchpad with multi finger scroll.
I was just curious if there was anymore progress on what isn't working, waking up from sleep problem and the keyboard backlight.
Just add bit more detail on sleep issue if it will help, I've noticed it isn't so much sleep that is the problem. The system will also lock up if you have your display set to sleep too in energy saver. The screen will flash white quickly and then go blank, black and freeze when it tries to turn the display back on. Or at least that is the case for me. Sleep works, but when you try to wake it up, same thing, the display locks up trying to turn on.
How frustrating is the keyboard backlight! Should be a bios, hardware switch feature. I wanted to ask if is this the same for everyone else? Only works in windows with the driver, software enabling the hotkeys. Which I can understand why there isn't a solution for this yet in our SL install.
For those that want to be able to close their lid and disable sleep, I found the InsomniaX app worked much better than the caffiene one found on the app store because caffiene disabled the screensaver as well. Only problem is, Insomnia doesn't seem to load on startup on mine like it's supposed to.
Also for those of you that don't know we have a function key to turn off the display. That is Fn+F7. Pressing it again will turn it back on, works the same way as closing ur laptop. So we can at least turn off the display without it crashing. Screensaver works fine.
Thanks again everyone! Hope some of this helps.

Again, how are you getting audio to work? I've tried the default kexts from Multibeast and the the one provided by the OP and I'm still not getting any audio.

If you're not getting audio then you must have a different audio chip. There's not much we can do about that. If you find out that you indeed DO have the same one, just install the latest voodooHDA from kexts dot com and install appleHDAdisabler kext. If that doesn't work try taking out the disabler. And if that doesn't work, then I don't know what else you can do.

Hey its me again,
I forgot to mention I got a strange problem with my textures, colors in osx. I've tried looking everywhere for a solution but I couldn't find one. Its like my QI,3d is 16bit color and or texture. Its definitely not the color profile, I've tried fiddling with that.
Has anyone come across this before, or know anything I can try to fix it?
Please, its a bit ugly.
Thanks
Daletanium

This is supposed to give us volume keys control, its for the g60jx, but the keyboard looks identical.

Thank you all for this guide. I have read thoroughly the 9 pages and all the other related threads.
I have exactly followed the methodology here
gj3jh bios 209
1) last iboot from tony mac
2) install 10.6.3
3) upgrade to 10.6.7
4) multibeast (easybeast + options provided above)
5) chameleon version for the g73.zip provided here
6) prefpane
7) replacement of Extra with extra from the g73.zip (removed ati.rom)
8) reboot
9) install 3 kexts from g73.zip
10) install wireless kext and hotkey kext
everything went smoothly, rock stable. Conclusion: super happy, we are almost there (maybe we should rename the 100% working
)
So at 10.6.7 everything works except, i have made an assessment of every shortcomings:
a) shutdown (screen is going down) not the PC
sleep (same symptoms)
c) power management seems to be not working efficiently (fans are spinning faster that under win 7) -not sure about that one just a gut feeling
d) battery indicator not available (might be fixed with voodoo battery) but it should work from scratch
e) multitouch two finger swipes does not work for me, i can using the right side of the touchpad
if anyone has a solution for a) to e) i would be very happy.
Note: i did not install a dsdt because i do not have one for the g73
Thank you

A) mine shuts down, via power button or the upper corner.
b)mine wont sleep either
c)cant say for sure on this either way, i put a sound level indicator on my laptop and it produced the same levels of noise under win 7 and osx
d)ehhh i feel dumb as a brick, i didnt even notice no battery indicator up there, lol Ive never tried to run this beast off of battery...
e)same as above, I use a apple magic mouse under win 7 and osx, didn't even try the track pad till you mentioned it not working right

I need to know what voodooHDA.kext is being used to activate volume for the mic as I used the .2.2 but no mic, then I use 2.7.2, I get volume on mic but I loose control of the volume slider, I can't change the volume settings. Prefpane doesn't even work.
