gerald05
Hi everybody. pl3ppp
UP! Can anyone answer me please? DDR2 800 is Really out dated, Most ram now is usually at-least DDR3 1600
gerald05
Ok... so you think I should buy a more efficient motherboard to be able to put DDR3 in? Have you got an idea of a good motherboard that can worth it? I want to build my MAC for less than 900$, so I can afford up to 350-400$ for the motherboard, the RAM and the CPU. Thank you for your answer
XLR
Looks great, the easiest way to install Snow Leopard on it would be using the Kakewalk boot cd. And feel free to ignore the DDR3 comment.

And feel free to ignore the DDR3 comment. Can you explain me what Kakewalk is for? I thought I would have to by my own update CD of SL (app. 30-40$). Do you think having DDR3 memory would help my in any thing? I've read somewhere that some systems are not recognizing bigger memory than 4 Go... Is it true in my case (if for example I want to extend my RAM one day)?
XLR
Kakewalk is a boot cd that allows you to install your SL on a PC, and it includes all the necessary drivers for your motherboard. DDR3 has nothing to do with this particular setup in any possible way, getting a faster Quad Core CPU would be more practical. You can extend your memory in the future, this board supports up to 8GB but it has only two memory slots.
gerald05
getting a faster Quad Core CPU would be more practical. So you say that this CPU: CP1-DUO-Q8300 ::Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 Processor BX80580Q8300 - 2.50GHz, 4MB Cache, 1333MHz FSB, Quad Core, Retail, Socket 775 is better than this one?: I69-7500 ::Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 Processor BX80571E7500 - 2.93GHz, 3MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB, Wolfdale-3M, Dual-Core, Retail, Socket 775 Do you think the difference worth 37$ Thank you for all, you really help me
freqabeat
Can anyone verify my config? * Dell PowerEdge 1600SC mobo with ServerWorks GC-SL chipset * 4 gigs PC2100 DDR SDRAM ecc * 2 3.2GHz Intel Xeon single core procs 604 socket
XLR
I haven't tried the E7500 2.93Ghz, but Q8300 2.5Ghz is much more powerful than E6500 2.93Ghz from my experience.

gerald05
@ freqabeat, please create your own topic... @ XLR: I've found a bargin about a Q8400 for the same price of the Q8300, I think i'm only at couples steps to check out Ty for all! gerald05
I'll up! I found something that seems interesting to me, because it's newer than my other config but it will cost the same price. Do you think I would be able run these componants as a HackIntosh? In this config, i have no video card because there's one already in the i5. Is this working with HackIntosh? EDIT: Do you think the DWA-140 is necessary? Thank you very much another time for your help and patience!
XLR
I'd suggest getting a Gigabyte or Asus board instead. And a normal graphics card of course.
gerald05
About the MoBo, why would you suggest an Asus or Gigabyte more than the MSI one? And about the graphic card, do you think a HackIntosh could recognize it onboard or not? Because I could only wait until I need a better one before investing in it. Finally, do you think the USB Wireless adapter (DWA-140) is necessary, or the onboard card would do the job? Thank you for your opinions, I care about these. inimicus
About the MoBo, why would you suggest an Asus or Gigabyte more than the MSI one? Compatibility. Better luck with GB or Asus. And about the graphic card, do you think a HackIntosh could recognize it onboard or not? Because I could only wait until I need a better one before investing in it. Even if it did, you'd be bottlenecking your system at the integrated graphics. A decent, supported graphics card can be had for around (or lower) $100 and it will return on the investment five fold. Finally, do you think the USB Wireless adapter (DWA-140) is necessary, or the onboard card would do the job? If you need wireless, get an adapter. Just make sure it's compatible. (I use a Apple AirPort Extreme card in a mini PCI-E-to-PCI-E 1x adapter. Total investment for a genuine Apple card: $75)
gerald05
Thank for your response. I've checked for a Gigabyte MoBo, and I'll wait a little bit for buying a graphic card. Do you think this setting could be interesting (added to a D-Link DWA-140 USB Wi-Fi key and an external hard drive that I already own)? Thank you very much again.
