MikeHunt79
It's causing me nothing but trouble, KP's etc. Is there a way I can disable spotlight under 10.6? Under 10.5 I could modify /Volumes/snow/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist to disable spotlight. does the same trick work under 10.6? MikeHunt79
Does anyone know how I can do this? I've searched and searched and not found out how to do it!

MikeHunt79
with onyx Thanks! It looks like it's still in beta, but I'll give it a go.
MikeHunt79
Ok, I tried onyx, and it allowed me to disable searching of my startup drive, but I need to disable spotlight completely... I'd like to stop the service and also remove the icon from the top right of the screen!
userx
Shut it off completely by moving these two files to an alternate location: /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.Spotlight.plist /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
MikeHunt79
/System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.Spotlight.plist This file does not exist on my system. /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist This file does however, would it work if I just moved this single file?
