Synaesthesia
i think it should work as its basically a renamed 8800gs and 8800gs works..Yes, unlike the 9600GT it is based on G92 like the 8800 series and therefore should work.

luke94_skywalker
I think that 9600gso is compatible with Leopard because it's a 8800gs,but maybe I take a 8800gs;by the way how go I modify Nvinstaller v.41 for 8800gs

BloodyVlad
Here is my report. I can't describe how white menus appeared. At the beginning I had GF8600 MSI 256Mb, and EVERYTHING was ok. Then I've bought new Gigabyte 9600GSO and simply switched the cards. As a result white menus appeared. Then I tried to add my ID, but problem was not solved. Then I tried to delete NVInject, but my PC couldn't start at all givin me kernel panic. I've installed fresh Kalyway 10.5.2 without VGA drivers. Then tried to install Graphics Update but no luck. Then I've installed 10.5.3 Combo Update (BTW Shutdown doesn't work again) and redolution changed and was fine but no QE/CI. Then I installed NVInstaller 5.1 beta with 256Mb Vanilla config and IT HELPED! Now EVERYTHING works JUST FINE!
Shine
looks like i'll give 10.5.3 a try... EDIT:i got it FULLY worked!! 10.5.2 with 9600GSO 384M, i was using NVinstaller V.41 witch gives me white menu, but QE/CI OK, now i updated 9800GTX driver, then i done the GFX Strings procedure..delete any trace of NVInject and Natit,Repair permissions, rebuild cache, reboot and it FULLY worked http://lh6.ggpht.com/nv35xt/SGPY0n7UFPI/AA....jpg?imgmax=

Geist
Can somebody explain how to install the 9800 drivers with a 9600GSO 384? I searched fpr Nvstrings, but i really don`t know what to do. Right now i`m using the newest Nvinstaller, which works fine except a very crappy Performance (15xxx in Openmark)
Geist
Can some one with a 9600GSO run Openmark and post the result here? I tried Nvinject and NVkush, which both seem to work alsmost perfectly, except the bad performance. And i have noticed one more thing: The fan ist always running @ low speed, even with full gpu load. (sink temperature is about 60°c)

vashpan
I managed to work 9600 GSO 384 MB with following configuration: A64 3500+ K8T890 chipset Zephyroth 10.5.2 I had MANY problems with it, but finally, following method works for me... GFX Strings method didn't work unfortunately ( card was recognized properly, resolutions etc, but no hardware acceleration ( I still don't know why ) ) - Install Leopard Graphics Pack ( just for case ) - Install 9800GTX drivers ( We should fix "white menus" problem, this will do it ) 9600 GSO have also G92 core - Install NVinstaller.V.52 ( It will work since we have 10.5.4 gfx kexts from 9800GTX driver ) - check your RAM size ( 320 MB for 384 MB cards, i think it could be fixed later in Info.plist at NVinject.kext ) - Fix cpuids with Marvin AMD Utility ( expecially in OpenGL.framework ) to fix crashes with OpenGL apps. - Repair permissions, reload kext cache etc. etc... Reboot and cross your fingers !
Raym
can't get it to work . a few problems: When i removed geforce.kext and NVresman.kext and used GFX-String (after fresh install); Working Fine, only a little slow animations When i installed NVinstaller 4.1 + GFX-String; Artifacts (only coloured stripes trough a fine working OS). When i installed 9800GTX driver pkg + GFX-String; same as NVinstaller. When i installed NVinstaller 4.1 and remove Nvinject.kext and use GFX-String; working but slow but fine. all four no QE Who can help me out?? evanrodge
Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to report that the 9600GSO 512mb with GDDR2 ram works PERFECTLY in iDeneb's 10.5.5 distro with the NVinject 512 option installed. CI/QE, all memory, everything. This is the one I got.
