Wolfer Posted December 19, 2008 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Hey All, I recently upgraded to PC-EFIv9/Chameleon 10.1.12 using the dsdt.aml patch for my Dell 1525. Everything is up and running fine. The system seems to perform better than it did under PC-EFIv8/Chameleon 10.1.11. I get better benchmarks and general usage. . . well. . . seems snappier than it did prior to the upgrade. I did notice however, that after upgrading to PC-EFIv9/Chameleon 10.1.12 and using the dsdt.aml patch, I get the following when booting: (After DarwinX86 Starts) starting hibernating sleepimage has garbage hibernating failed This text pops up right prior to the OS booting. Even with it being present, I notice no difference in how the computer sleeps. So, I'm not too worried about it. BUT, I would like to know what it means, why it's presenting, and if there is anything I can do to correct the "garbage" and "failed" conditions. So, if anyone could lend a hand, I'd greatly appreciate it. I've tried to find information regarding it, but not come up with much that's meaningful. Neals Posted December 20, 2008 Share Posted December 20, 2008 Maybe deleting /private/var/vm/sleepimage could help? I see someone has solved the problem that way. I hope it won't do any harm to your system. By the way, can you share your experience with the patch thing? I have the exact same Dell with the exact same X3100 card. I can't get it worked. Beerkex'd Posted March 22, 2009 Share Posted March 22, 2009 It's easy to fix. All you need to do is set the proper sleep mode with pmset. Open terminal and type man pmset to learn about this command. -- I just 'downgraded' to this bootloader from Mackerintel's ChameleonSM because I wanted to try AnV's AppleSMBIOS instead. I had forgotten that I had an old hibernation file still on the drive from last time I was playing with this version of Chameleon, and so when the system booted up, it loaded the old hibernation file instead of booting up normally and totally trashed my installation, I can't boot anymore because of mismatches, wrong kernel and wrong ACPI/APIC files and Disk Utility refuses to repair the drive. Looking at the drive with transmac, many files are simply missing, including ALL my backed up modified plists, kexts, notes, DSDT files and other hackintosh stuff. Seems like it put back the old 9.5.0 kernel (I was using AnV 9.6.0) and whatever else was hiding in the hibernate file from months ago, creating a frankentosh resembling the monkey that comes out of Seth Brundle's teleport with the insides out. Not a pretty sight. See you all later.. Try unplugging all your USB devices before sleeping (use the case power button to sleep/wake).
