QuadMachine
I'm thinking of buying this laptop to run OSX 10.6.3. http://www.linlap.com/wiki/lenovo+g560 Core i3 CPU, NVidia 310M graphics, broadcom WLAN... Seems to me that everything should pretty much work with no fuss... Any opinions? Is core i3 supported on 10.6.3? I read this graphics card should work with just GraphicsEnabler=Yes... Any input would be appreciated! Cheers! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218920-1063-on-lenovo-g560/ Share on other sites

maxjerin
I have the Lenovo G560 without the graphics option with Insyde H2O BIOS. I've tried out ##### (from tonymacx86[dot]blogspot) to install snow leopard but as soon as I press enter on ##### menu, I get a reboot computer message. I've been able to at least get to the installation screen with my old iAtkos 10.5.6 image, but have not been able to find out a combination of kernel and drivers that would let me boot in. Still trying to get anything working on it. Any help would be appreciated. maxjerin
Anyone... Please !!! I was able to get to the installation screen again using SnowLeo 10.6 and adding "busratio=20" at the startup screen. But it just keeps rebooting after the installation. It runs perfectly on VirtualBox on my Ubuntu. Am really trying to get any Snow Leopard system going on my laptop. miapoint
I also try to install SL on my Lenovo G560 i5 but I find no solution. Maybe it´s the Bios (H2O) with his hidden functions that make my "iHack" to my "iSuck"!!! I tried empire efi and ##### supported with original SL retail DVD and an bootable image from it on my USB-stick. Hope for your help! miapoint, I got mine working. Although the technique is a bit weird but it works nonetheless. Using "SnowLeo", I was able to install Snow Leopard using the default settings that came with the DVD. Format the drive onto which you want to install Mac and complete the installation process. After installation, pop in your ##### or Emptire EFI CD (or any other EFI CD) and select the Mac partition on which you installed Snow Leopard (there would be two icon's listed, one for the EFI CD and one for the partition on which you just installed Mac) and boot with "busratio=20". This is the same boot option that you have to run while installing Snow Leopard, (without this, Snow Leopard never went into installation mode for me and would error out with "panic" messages at installation screen), which I've already mentioned in my earlier post. Touch Pad might not work initially, but use one of the PS/2 drivers and it will start working. All that I have to figure out now is how to get Snow Leopard boot with "busratio=20" without having to use the EFI CD all the time. Am not sure about the bootable USB device function in Lenovo G560 because my motherboard does not support this and it does not give me any option when I press F12 during BIOS POST SCREEN. The only options that I get to boot from are for HDD, DVD and a network device. Any input would be appreciated! Cheers! I have got the i5 Version and appart from the LAN works everything quite well. I used iBoot_2.5.2 from tonymacx86.com (cpus=1) for Vanilla installation . I installed the Retail Version 10.6.3 + update 10.6.4. After that I set up via Munky method the efi partition using Chameleon RC5 r650 and updated to 10.6.5 I attached my extra folder + files. WLAN AR9285 works with kext from kexts.com. I have attached the IO80211Family.kext . The Lan card Realtek RTL8101E doesn't work. I installed the Realtek package from kexts.com and even the driver was loaded, the connection and DHCP didn't work. braveskunk
hey, i have this laptop with p6100, 4gb of ram, the m310 GF card and 500hdd. currently i'm obtaining SL. I will post back with some more info after trying to lunch the set up. i googled however, and AFAIK the only problem might be with WIFI. everything else basically should work. I will try retail as it's the only one worth the efforts. Don't get me wrong, i respect other customized distros, but after trying a lot of them on my other PC theres always some problems with compability, updates etc. So basically either it will run vanilla or won't run it at all:) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218920-1063-on-lenovo-g560/#findComment-1631931 Share on other sites
braveskunk
ok my snow leo i up and running(vanilla and ##### for install) but... kernel version is always reported as 10.5.0 i don't excacly know why since after playing with chameleon and EFI partition and finally upgrading i'm pretty sure i have only one mach_kernel on my hdd and it's the one from 10.6.5 combo update, it's pretty frustrating and i would like to have proper recognizion of kernel version apart from that: keyboard/touchpad only works in 32bit sleep works only on battery i have to deal with LAN and WIFI since it's not working. BTW i Have the P6100 CPU not the iCore one Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218920-1063-on-lenovo-g560/#findComment-1647021 Share on other sites
braveskunk
ok, it seems that i'm talking to myself, but someone maybe will find it helpful after playing around i managed to have fully working 10.6.6 vanilla with chameleon rc5 748 build. lan works with kext from realtek but i had to change one option in the applertl8169 plugin kext from <string>Network-root</string> to <string>Root</string> otherwise i had panic every boot. Apart from that i will try to find 64bit kext for the touchpad so i could run SL in 64bit mode. Right now kernel version is reported 10.6 which is ok Brightness, Volume keys are working, Sleep as well... I didnt test HDMI and ext display port but if i have "detect displays" button enabled i assume that at least on of them should work. kext i'm using are; vodoohda, fakesmc, acpips2, intelthermal, and rtl 2.5.0-1 package from realtek.com, generated dsdt and smbios, system type changed to 2 in com.apple.boot.plist hope this helps someone! I dont even have to type that, but if you want to: Type F8 at the Chameleon Boot Screen, you can type then in the bootflags! Question: Does anybody got the Mic-In work? I have the internal Mic working, but not the Mic-In port. And what can I do with dsdt.aml with the "i3 Nvidia G560" ? Are there hacks usefull for that? Especially for the soundcard! ahaber2
ok I have questions for the people who got this working. I have the i5 version which should make almost no difference in the process. I switched to the Iatkos 10.6.3 install disk. I have a booting 10.6.3 with Everything working except wifi. My question is how to combo update. I have tried on both retail 10.6.3 and Iatkos 10.6.3 to update, no matter which version I update to I do not have a working update. I started off being able to update on my retail 10.6.0 and I got up to 10.6.3, but I have never been able to get past that. What is the trick to get it to boot after combo updating, with retail i couldnt boot off ##### past 10.6.3 from the applep2alpsglidepoint screw up. I have a better functioning system with Iatkos, but still i cannot update. It gets to the ethernet driver and hangs, it loads the ethernet address just fine, but it doesnt get past it. nothing loads after it. Booting it off the Iatkos dvd I was able to get to the Audio kexts, but still no boot. You have been able to get up to 10.6.6 what did you do? Any kind of tutorial or steps would be much appreciated Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218920-1063-on-lenovo-g560/#findComment-1740853 Share on other sites
