I upgraded from 10.4.3 to 10.4.4 according to Maxxuss instructions. Audio works after proting AC97 over. However during boot, I get "link/load errors" while trying to load the AppleIntel8254XEthernet extension. When I try doing kextload -t, I get an error message saying something about extension not containing kernel execution code.

Networking in 10.4.3 works perfectly, it detects the 8254X and uses it.

Any suggestion to fix this problem? I tried copying IOPCI over but it didn't help either.

Thanks

I've just done a clean install of 10.4.4 from the install DVD, and i have no network :(

Previously when i have been using 10.4.1 and 10.4.3 networking has worked fine, this is on a sony vaio laptopn with an intel pro 100 network adapter.

Do i need another .kext file? Can i get this off of a 10.4.3 install dvd, i looked in the dvd but couldn't find many kext's, are they stored inside a package?

Any ideas?

What I did was copy IONetworking.kext over from 10.4.3

I wonder if my devID and vendorID is wrong. Theoretically it should be right since I copied it over from 10.4.3 and it worked there. How do I check my devID and vendorID?

BTW, why would we copy 10.4.3 kexts for networking anyway? Looks like 10.4.4 supports the Intel8254XEthernet, or at least its listed under plugins.

@ Microsoft Bob: updating kextcache as described by Maxxus didn't solve it on my Toshiba Laptop. I would be really great if you could upload a package with the extensions which are working in your system at some filehoster site (maybe megaupload or so).

Thanks,

B B.
