zdj
* SOLVED * the tutorial below DOES work! tried everything but manually loading kext in terminal.. well, did it and the damn thing woke-up! then used Lingon to create a damon and automatically load it at start-up.. enjoy! Guys, Got the Hawking HWUG1A after long reading and comparisons, so I could have mobility with my HP laptop (yes, I have Intel 3945A/B/G...). I followed a couple tutorials on making this device work - AND IT DID - for a couple hours... After the first reboot, I was never able to make it work again... This is the procedure I followed, found on a Japanese website (edited data in BOLD): Download 1.1.7.0c_D2500 by RTUSB D2870-1.0.1.0b_D71w-1.71.3.0 UI-1.4.8.0_2007_11_26.dmg $ sudo -s password:.... # cd /System/Library/Extensions/ # cd RT73USBWirelessDriver.kext/ # cd Contents/ # vi Info.plist ...... <key>IOKitPersonalities</key> <dict> <key> Hawking </key> <dict> <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key> <string>com.Ralink.driver.RT73</string> <key>IOClass</key> <string>RT2573USBWirelessDriver</string> <key>IOProviderClass</key> <string>IOUSBDevice</string> <key>bcdDevice</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>idProduct</key> <integer> 9587 </integer> <key>idVendor</key> <integer> 5263 </integer> </dict> ....... Then run the utility network, Ethernet Press + Ethernet third added, and rename service in wifi. Finally disk utility to repair permissions and restarting. Why restart when - not recognized f you do not enter! Boot - is in. com.apple.Boot.plist f vi to edit. # sudo -s # Sudo-s # vi /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist # Vi / Library / Preferences / SystemConfiguration / com.apple.Boot.plist .... <key>Kernel Flags</key> <key> Kernel Flags </ key> <string> - f </string> <string> - F </ string> .... USBWirelessUtility start and so will automatically launch the WEP key and to register. Then I reformated and reinstalled Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD, this time enabling the Rallink 25xxx drivers/ kexts. I thought it would work instantly after enabling USB, but nothing. Installed the 1.1.7.0c_D2500 by RTUSB D2870-1.0.1.0b_D71w-1.71.3.0 UI-1.4.8.0_2007_11_26.dmg and did the same process all over again. Nothing works... Anybody gone through this, with Hawking or any other Ralink USB chip? Pls I need suggestions!! I can still return it to BestBuy and get a different one that DO work on 10.5.2... Tks!!!
