hey guys, hopefully someone could help me out with this prob. first off here are my specs:

gigabyte ds3l motherboard

intel core duo e8400 (stock)

3 gigs ram

evga 8800gts 320

2 sata (ahci enabled in bios)

10.5.2 leo4all install

basically everything is working perfect....everything is recognized and installed. the only issue is when i turn off my monitor (actually LG hdtv LCD dvi>hdmi), then turn it back on, all i get is a light blue screen. i can't see my mouse nor does the system respond to the keyboard. i do hear a "buzz" or "beep" coming from my speakers when i try to punch some keys on the keyboard. i have to end up restarting (hard restart). no problems with shutdown, sleep or restart. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

I am having exactly the same problem. I've got a geforce 7900gs, and a dual monitor setup. If i turn either monitor off (or even if the cat pulls the monitor cable loose) the screen locks up (everything else keeps running) and I have to hard reboot.

Have you had any luck resolving this?

thanks

I have the same problem, If I turn off my LG50PC1R (DVI over HDM) screen and turn it back on I get a blue screen. The OS is still running fine "underneath", I can bring the mouse all the way up to the left (where the apple menu is, though I obviously can't see it), press return (which brings up the apple menu) press up arrow twice to highlight the "shut down" option, then press return twice to select and confirm shutdown. The system then shuts down.

Any resolutions/suggestions for this?

So close to the perfect Media PC....... :D

Ok, this http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1378 solved the problem! Works like a charm now. According to the guys who build it, it was specifically built to solve this problem for OSX, which has apparently been around for a long time.

OSX does not correctly wake up when the screen sends the EDID (Extended Display ID) over the DVI cable, so this box records the screens's EDID and keeps sending it, so that OSX thinks the screen is constantly on, even when you turn it off.

Cost me about €50, definitely worth it in the scheme of what I've put into this HTPC so far :dev:

You can also set one of your "Hot Corners" under Screen Saver to sleep the display. When you move the mouse to wake the screen back up it will correctly initialize. It is easy to move the mouse to the lower left hand corner for instance to sleep the screen (your tv will put up a message that it does not see your computer or turn black) and then move the mouse back to the center to wake up the display. At least this works for my system.
