Hi guys, first post here. Fantastic website which is a mine of information!

I have decided to use my Mac mini as a media centre pc and convert my PC workstation to a 'mac pro'. I have previously used Tiger on a couple of PC machines to good success but have not yet used leopard on a PC.

Unfortuantly I am very much out of date with how things have progressed since last summer and I was hoping that someone might point me in the right direction as far as my workstation and needs might be.

The key system specification which I have is:

Intel q6600 2.4ghz (non G0 stepping, running at 3.0ghz)

8gb DDR2 800mhz ram

nVidia 620mb (i think) Geforce 8800 GTS

Abit Snake Pro IP35 motherboard

2x 250gb SATA hd's (brands I can't remember)

After viewing the wiki, it would appear that my system is a great starting point for leopard.

I need to be able to run both OS X leopard and Windows X64. My main operating system will be OS X; Windows x64 is required because my work uses 3DS Max/Vray/AutoCAD.

I would ideally like to install each operating system to a separate hard drive and make a selection of which I would like to boot at startup.

I have downloaded the new Kalyway 10.5.2 in readyness for this system update, is this the best for my setup?

I am very interested in using the EFI V8. Does this allow me to update OS X through system update, or is it a little bit temperamental? How will using EFI V8 affect my using Windows x64?

Which boot loader would you recommend? I have used Acronis in the past, and was VERY happy with it.

Any help you can offer would be most appreiciated!

Thanks ahead of time! :)

Hi guys,

Good news. Managed to get Kalyway 10.5.2 installed on my workstation and it runs fantastically, it is lightning quick!

Not really had a massive amount of time to play with the install but so far the only issue I have come across is that Leopard will shutdown and spin down the HD but the system doesn't switch off, meaning that I have to do it manually.

Does anyone have any suggestions of how to resolve this?

Thanks!
