I'm new to this scene. Have just installed kalyway 10.5.1 on the following hardware:

Gigabyte GA-G33M-DSR2

2GB Cell Shock DDR2 PC8500 1066MHz 5-5-5-15 (D9GMH Micron chips)

Intel E6600

Seagate 750GB AS SATA

LG GSA 66N (SATA) DVD

Tagan Easycon PSU 480W

I'm using GUID. Had to retry the install a couple of times, because I mixed up the MBR/GUID

partition setting. Then I tried to apply the 10.5.2 updates, but could not restart ... because I

could not find a restart 'button' on my USB keyboard. I used the AppleHDA patcher - it works!

So now, I'm wondering:

1) Can I safely apply the update roll-up (10.5.2), or is it going to screw up my system?

2) Performance is good, but not as blinding as I expected. I'm using it for photo/video editing.

Disk performance is OK, but... Would hardware RAID be worthwhile/worth the risk (I have

another 750 Seagate)? Memory upgrade to 4GB? CPU upgrade? My hardware is good for OC

but I prefer stability, cool running, power saving... Suggestions welcome.

3) I have a Ge-Force 8800GS video card. Can I plug it in, disable onboard, enable PCI-E graphics

and expect to boot with graphics, or is there something else I need to do? Will it be OK with

kalyway 10.5.1 or do I need the updates?

Thanks kalyway, and all. OSX is awesome. Wish Apple would release an OpenMac spec.

I'm sure they'd win many people over.

Thanks!
