MrAustin1337 Posted February 23, 2006 Share Posted February 23, 2006 I have a Quanta KN1 (that's the best link I could find). It is a whitebox laptop that I built from scratch. (Vendor / Device : 8086 / 2668) I've been very pleased with the install but I have a few problems. I have the Patched OSX 10.4.3 8F1111 DVD. The install went perfectly (minus the install being on the second display). I went through and I got everything I could to work -- though most everything worked great to start. Anyways my real problem is that I can't seem to get any sound out of this damned machine. I have tried fixing Azalia, AC'97 and AppleHDA. No luck. I'll tell you what I have tried and if anyone has any ideas... I would be most pleased to get any suggestions. I originally tried adding my device to AppleAC97Audio.kext what resulted was nothing. I was still in the exact same boat I was in. Then (as I started to get a little more used to Mac OSX and kext files) I did a kextstat and noticed that AppleAzaliaAudio.kext was loading. This made me curious so I checked it out on here and a lot of people had a lot of ideas on how to fix it (and I saw people all over saying, 'Yeah!!!! THAT R0XORS!!! I GOT IT!!!!') I felt alone because I still had no result. Anyways I moved on and was looking at getting wireless to work (yeah right... Intel 2915 AGB if anyone has any ideas) and I bumped into this which made me hopeful. I read through it and tried it (I even downloaded his kext and tried his exact kext -- since he has the same vendor / device code as me) and I still had nothing. I've tried rebooting since some said that the device would stay loaded and I still had no luck. I am not asking for much, just crappy 2 channel sound... For those who got this working (not my exact computer but 0x26688086) did you all see the volume control and Audio in the System Prefs -> Sound? I'll be excited to see if anyone has any ideas. skippyretard Posted February 26, 2006 Share Posted February 26, 2006 It seems you have the ICH6-M southbridge which is a little different than desktop boards. Your chipset has the integrated wireless that may be conflicting with your sound. You may check your BIOS for audio settings as I think your chipset supports both HD and AC97 but not at the same time. If you can set it to AC97 only in BIOS then adding 0x266e8086 to the AppleAC97 kext may work. Good luck!
