jpea1233 Posted August 19, 2008 Share Posted August 19, 2008 I just had great luck installing kaly 10.5.1 on my HP xw8200 and upgrading it to 10.5.3 with EFI (no vanilla kernel though). The install kept hanging when I used the IDE drive to boot the dvd, but I replaced it with a SATA dvd drive and used my nvidia 8800GT 512 card for the video card and it booted right up. Upgraded the kernel to the mach_9.2.2_IntelSSE3.EFI kernel and it boots up in about 10 seconds on my raptor. I didn't think this would work at all, but it seems pretty solid and now I have a workstation class dual xeon machine with 8 gigs of ram. There are some weird little issues, but nothing crazy. The onboard gigabit ethernet only works at 100-baseT at the moment, but otherwise, crazy how well it worked. Dont know what device is faulty. even if with -v switch on, it is just too fast for me to catch the last error. Any body got similar experience before? Many many thanks! I just got an xs8200, dual 3.2, E7525 chipset, Nvidia FX1400, SoundMax AC97, Intel Pro/1000 HT Nic. I can't get it to work with either the above or iDeneb 10.5.5. In some cases it just reboots, in other it starts but fails to continue booting. I am new to this game and have no idea what the various options stand for. Any advice would be appreciated.
