RTA
Hey folks. Lately I've heard my fans running constantly and my computer running slow, so I checked my activity monitor and sure enough, there's a runaway process. asyncd. But it's not just one. It's a half dozen asyncd's, all eating up massive amounts of the CPU. (70 - 80% each). I force quit them all the first time, and it was fine. But then again just today, the same thing happened. So I tried it again. There probably ten asyncds eating up my resources. Anyone have experience with this? ddunn
I am having the same problem as you, with the exception that I only have 1 asyncd process going that is taking up 70% or more resources. Whenever I kill the process, it will almost certainly start again later in the day. I haven't been able to isolate the problem, and I haven't been able to find out if it can be killed permanently - it would be nice to get rid of it for good because it makes my fans run constantly too. Once it is killed, fans slow right down. One thin I do know is that I was not having this problem under Leopard. It appeared to come up after installing Snow Leopard. It is apparently a PowerPC process - not sure whey when my macbook is an Intel, 1st generation white plastic. Let me know if you happen to get anywhere with this and I will do the same.
