alopsor
Hello everybody. First of all I consider myself a newbie here so I´d ask for your patience and your support. I´ve played with linux for some time, and been playing to get a decent osx86 installation for three months. I´ve searched the forum and wiki pretty seriously, but haven´t been able to find a "cure" for my system. I´ve tried Kalyway, iatkos and Leo4all DVD´s. Only Kally rebooted after the installation. I´ve customized the installation and finally selected nothing, I´ve probably done around 15 complete installations from a scrach. Here you have my laptop specs, its a Santa Rosa laptop: http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/spec/spec_FL90.asp It´s a pretty common one, originally a Compal IFL90, sold OEM and can be found as Sager NP-2090, Ahtec FL90, BTW and many more resellers. The specs are pretty similar to a Mac Book Pro: Supports Intel® Mobile Core™2 Duo 800FSB CPU T7100 / 7300 / 7500 / 7700 Chipset Intel® PM965 + ICH8-M Graphics & Video Module NVIDIA® Mobile 8600GT 512MB graphic memory Main Memory DDR2 533/667 SO-DIMM x 2 slots, Max: 4GB Display15.4" ( 1650 x 1050 ) PC Cards Slot - PCI Express card x1 Card Reader SD/MMC/MS/MS-Pro 4-in-1 Card Reader Hard Disk Drive Supports SATA HDD Optical Drive Supports Super-Multi DVD & CD Burner Drive LAN/Modem Gigabit LAN + 56K Modem: - Broadcom 5786 Gigabit LAN - Internal Modem with MDC 1.5 solution V.92/56K bps; V.90/56K bps Fingerprint Reader from UPEK 2.0Mpix Web Cam Wireless LAN Intel 4965AGN Wireless Network Adapter In a Mac Book Pro the System Profiler shows Intel PM965 + ICH8-M, core2duo, and 800 mhz bus among other things. I have a 160Gb SATA HDD, two partitions, XP PRO in one, Kalyway 10.5.1 selecting just EFI mbr (none of the rest DVD´s work no matter the options I chose, no reboot after install) After the install, I´ve gotten my nvidia 8600m gt with nvinstaller, ALC268 HD audio with installer from this forum, usb wifi (RT-2500), and some other things. The problem is that the info in profiler is pretty wrong, 1.- No processor name, just unknown at 1.99. (instead of Core2Duo at 2.0) 2.- No chipset model under SATA, instead of Intel PM965 + ICH8-M 3.- FSB is stuck at 100 Mhz instead of 800. 4.- Express Card not recognized, Card Reader not recognized. 4.- The computer identifies as a Mac Pro, not Mac Book. Is this normal being my specs so similar to the Mac Book Pro´s? I just think my laptop is configured as a desktop, not a laptop, the is nothing there to make me think otherwise. Besides, it runs very hot, I´ve install Temperature Monitor, removed Thermal kexts, but I have to watch it carefully. All these make me think something didn´t get correctly installed, what am I missing? How can I be sure my chipset+processor are correctly recognized and the correct kexts installed? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/97739-osx86-on-santa-rosa-laptop/ Share on other sites
