Running With Scissors
Hi ive ordered a new motherboard (MSI 945GCM5) and RAM (2x OCZ PLATINUM XTC 1gb) but in my hast and considerably drunken state I didn't realise that the memory runs at 800mhz where as the maximum supported by the mobo is 667mhz. Will the RAM simply run at 667mhz or will it be incompatible? Thanks. penarol
Hi Don´t worry. It´s compatible. The Ram work at 667 MHZ. There isn´t difference between 800 to 667 MHZ. SDRacer48
Yeah, I was about to say RAM is always backwards compatible given it is the same type. I.E. 133 MHz SDRAM is compatible with 100 MHz SDRAM boards or 400 MHz DDR is compatible with 266 MHz DDR boards or, in your case, 800 MHz DDR2 is compatible with 667 MHz DDR2 boards.
