dear all

i have a amd 64-bit cpu , m2n-Sli deluxe motherboard of asus (all sse3) , 2Gb ram and nvidea 8800GTS.

i have a copy of the zephyrot 5.2 rev 2. so i booted the pc , hold f8 to chose boot medium , ald selected the disk.

all ok , instalation loads, i go to diskuntil, i have a external usb2.0 harddrive off 750GB slit up in 3 parts, and i wanna use te last one (3the) for mac. so i select it and erease it , is there here a type of formating? i read about GUID and MRB?

well i just took mac journaled ,, quick erase and done.so i continued the instalation , i customized , i chose MBR and 9.2 kernel , does it matters if i instal all grafic drivers and for sound cards or do i need to pick just one?

the instalation continues. after that , the screen goes to gey with a loading icon spinning , pc reboots, but it starts right away to f*ccking vista?

i already tried acronic os selector , he sees an extra os (sometimes up to 3 unknown os but thas probably my virtual pc tries to mac and the virtual hdd of it wath he sees) so acronis refuses to boot it , because it's unknown?

so the botomline.

i think i instaled mac the right way but have no idea how to get in it?

regards Stein :P

Hi, there! I believe it's because you installed to an external drive, and your BIOS is set to load from the primary internal hard drive unless you select otherwise (press F12 when the computer BIOS screen first comes up and select the external usb hdd). Also, I believe that mac OSX has to be installed on a primary partition, and should be at the beginning of the disk.

Hello Stein,

regarding the MBR / GUID, when you create the partition using the Disk Utility at the installation of Leopard, be sure that you check at the partition and click options; then select your type of installation:

MBR partition or

GUID.

I do not know the exact difference, but i have read somewhere that MBR is for compatibilty with Windows partitions, whereas GUID is the default Apple's way... Anyway, does not matter i think...

And as blu.flame suggests, be sure that you are booting from the external hdd!

Hope i helped.

edit 1)well , i erased the 1ste partition and made it primary and formated as ntfs with acronis. and i made the 2 other partition as logical.

then i rebooted and push F8 and select DVD to boot , push enter and let it boot but then ,i go to the disk util, and select the hdd, and where do i need to select mbr or guid format or where do i see wich one it is?

edit 2)well i just went (the disk name is now disk1s1) on and selecteg toh9.2.0 and the MBR bootloader (in the hope this is the right one) and running the instalation now.

i also reag this :

Activate your's partition.

Boot dvd, and in terminal:

diskutil list

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 (your disk number)

p

f 2 (your partition number, mbr=1, guid=2)

write

yes

exit

is this wath i need to get it to be bootable? dont i need to say wich is the partition to boot on that disk? or is that the meaning of the p? + after the instalation, wath should the procedure to boot look like?

edit 3)so now mac is instaled and i had a message instalation sucses

the pc rebooted but straight to vista :s

i havent done any thing mentioned in edit2

edit 4) is this a use full way because i have no sing of darwin?

Boot with Windows bootloader with Windows as the default booting OS, A.K.A: the Chain0 method.

1. Run Acronis OS Selector in windows, Go to Tools-> Deactivate OS Selector, then follow the instructions to apply the settings.

2. From your OSX DVD root, copy the Chain0 file to your windows root folder. (Most likely c:\)

3. Right-click on "My Computer" then click

"Properties", click the "Advanced" tap, then under "Startup and Recovery" click "Settings". Then click on "Edit" in the pop-up window, this will open boot.ini in notepad.

4. Add this as the last line in notepad:

C:\chain0="Mac OS X86"

save the file and reboot.

edit 5) oh yeah ,almost forgotten, when i hold F6 during booting i get a way to come to the mac os partition and set it to load , when i select the partition it also says something the same like when you boot the dvd "enter to boot , -v and ?" when i push enter , a white screen apears with tha apple logo (the same as during instalation) and then a black screen and there i stops (or it just takes hour and i don't have taken the time).

hi , another day of trieing and reading,
