I'm finally posting this installation guide of Kalyway 10.5.1, the way i did it because of numerous difficulties of this installation on Sata Disks. Mine was a Uli Sata 5287, and and the Kalyway Dvd wouldn't detect any HD in Disk Utility while booting with the Dvd.

I had a Dvd drive connected on IDE, and a Sata Seagate 7900tr 160G on Sata! Here's what i Did :

1-- First you need a Kalyway Dvd (Mine was Kayway 10.5.1 SSE3 Intel 9BD3 but i think most will do for this chipset, including Brazilmac's or iAtKos).

2-- Second thing is to edit some Kexts on the Dvd. THis part could be a pain in the **s if you don't have any running osx system, or don't have apprpriate windows softwares to edit the disk Image. Solutions are :

2.1: Go into an already running osx system (Tiger or leopard)

or 2.2: *Install Vmware on your windows or linux machine. Here is the download : http://www.vmware.com/fr/products/server/ Get a key on the site to finish installation.

*Download a Vmware image of Tiger. Many Torrent links out there!!!...

or 2.3: Get a hold of softwares able to mount and support edit for hfs filesystems on windows or linux. ( I heard Transmac on windows would do the Job but didn't try! )

-----> The practicly "one" file to edit (at first place) in order to have your sata HD detected for installation, is AppleVIAATA.kext . It is located in : /System/Library/Extensions/ .

Once your disk mounted and ready for edit:

+ delete this file from the image. (On osx : ' rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleVIAATA.kext ' ).

+ Once the file deleted, download the modified kext with AppleVIAATA modified: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=19616

After download, browse into AppleVIAATA.kext, and open with textedit the info.plist subfile. There, beetween the diffrent Device ID's written in the SATA section (not the PATA one), you must add your device ID. ( 0x........ ). Once edited, save and copy the AppleVIAATA

.kext that is edited with your device ID, in the same folder that the one you deleted. (cp -R /the path where you edited/AppleVIAATA.kext /Path to iso Image/System/Library/Extensions )

You must then put the appropriate permissions to the file :

( chown -R root:wheel /path to AppleVIAATA/AppleVIATA.kext)

then ( chmod -R 755 /path to AppleVIAATA/AppleVIATA.kext)

Now it's done . (You can also do this with other drivers that you want to modify for your specific devices. But you can do this later once installtion finished.)

3-- Burn your ISO to Dvd, and boot. Your Sata HD is now detected. Go with the installaton.

(Play it safe and unselect everything, and only select Efi boot on MBR ) Finish installation.

4-- Once installation done, First boot will surely not succeed because of this AppleVIAATA kext, which is no more loaded by the installation files, and you'll probably fall into the :

"Still waiting for root Device" Error!!! What you must do now is:

4.1: Boot back with the Installation Dvd. Once at the welcome screen, go to disk utility and unmount your installation partition.

4.2: Then open a terminal and remount the partition with redwrite option: (hdiutil mount /dev/disk*s* -readwrite ) The * corresponding ofcourse to the disk and partition number of your leopard installation partition. Then copy back (AGAIN) the AppleVIAATA.kext that is located in the DVD to the the Extensions Folder of your new installed leopard:

(cp -R /Path to Dvd/System/Library/Extensions/AppleVIAATA.kext /Path to leopard installation/System/Library/Extensions )

my command was : (cp -R /Volumes/Leopard_Install_Osx86/System/Library/Extensions/AppleVIAATA.kext /Volumes/leopard/System/Library/Extensions )

Once this done apply the apprpriate permissions just like before (chown/chmod)

4.3 Now reboot taking of the dvd from your drive, and pressing F8 at the darwin boot, and putting the option : -f

You must now have a smile on your face while seeing leopard boot successfully for the first time. ;)

Then ofcourse you can add the appropriate drivers for your devices, but the hard work is done. I had:

*ECS 410 RC motherboard,

*with Uli sata 5287 controller : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=19616

*ati xpress 200 integrated : http://omni.110mb.com/callisto/?download,b...AY2ADQAYAFsAzE=

Callisto beta 6 : The only one working for me flawlessly, everyoptions exept video acceleration which will be for very soon. Remember tu put device ID.

*Ali high definition Audio Ac'97 Realtek Alc 880 : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=19374 Sound works great after putting this kext! But remember to put device ID.

*Ethernet : Marvell Yukon Gigabyte 88E001 : Works great after putting Skyge kext and reboot: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry137590

no device Id needed, if doesn't work, try putting it in info.plist.

Hope this thread help some of you with similar machine. Post any comments, or questions if i can help! ^_^

With PPF o Matic, add them to the DVD.

1 - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=43Q7YVYP

2 - http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=39898

now with an iso editor, copy 1 file to /System/Library/ (replace the existent file) and 2 file to /System/Installation/Packages/Patches/Chipset/

burn and you'l be were im now, with hdd recogniced but i cant boot yet, have to trie diferent selections

I have just took the old copy of the AppleVIAATA.kext and took a look for the SATA section, i have found it, but I'm not sure what part of the section to edit. OR how to get the DevID. I think i have a rough idea but not complete?
