:) Hi guys, i really need some help and expertise here. Here goes my problem

I have partition a volume for Mac OSX Extended (Jounaled) for Kalyway.

After OSX is installed, I only can Boot into Mac OSX but not into my VISTA anymore

I tried using Vista DVD Bootable disc. But it found no Vista OS to repair.

Tried using Command prompt and did these:

bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup

ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old

bootrec /rebuildbcd

but it didnt work either.

I tired using Gparted Live to try manage the flags. And to my surprise the partition which my Vista was on became unallocated. And i can't manage flags on an unallocated partition.

Any idea, or anyone had a similar problem as me?

yes mate, did same to me, do not worry, get a windows 98 boot disk, boot it up, run fdisk and set your active partition back to ntfs volume..

Glad to have helped, this happened to me... YESTERDAY lol

Hey thanx mate for answering to my query. Hey can i ask you some specific questions?

1) is it a must to use windows 98 CD? what about XP? Because i dont have any Windows 98 cd

2) How do i run fdisk from Windows 98cd and change it the volume to NTFS?

Thank you, your help is greatly appreciated

im a little unsure with the xp boot disk, as you have todo it thorugh the recovery console and i couldnt be bothered to learn that.. lol

But if you get a boot disk just type in fdisk

then i think its 3+enter to set active partitions, then select the right one by entering 1 or 2 or whatever...

you wont have to reformat this way and it will just prompt you to restart your machine..

on restart it will work...

2mins and ill find you a boot disk.. oh.. yeh use the link above that "xzandf" has posted, i belive its only like a 8meg download.. dont worry about fat and ntfs file systems or prompts... your only setting the active partition.

Hey just saw your reply on this thread, ignore my questions about the commands of fdisk in my PM to you. Will let you know if I have any problem with fdisk again

Hey anyway your system specs seems fine. But if problems occurred with media checking. Then maybe the burn process gone wrong somewhere. Let me know if you need a copy of my kalyway. I will see what i can for you.

you already have the solution! :P

in the Gparted cd there's an utility called TestDisk, just run it via command line.

it does lots of things, including fixing partition tables, scanning the hard drive; then it should show you the unallocated partition, prompting for rewriting its table :D

are you sure i should use win98 bootdisk? i thought win98 fdisk can't control NTFS completely?
