my build:

CPU : Intel q6600

Mobo : Gigabyte p35-ds3r

DVDRW : pioneer 215bk

Hard Drives : 2XWestern Digital Caviar 250Gb (one XP, one Leo)

PSU : Corsair HX 620 Modular

GFX Card : Asus 256 Asus EN7300GT Silent

2GB of cheap (but fully compatible with the mobo as it is in the recomended memory list on the gigabyte website) Kingston ValueRam (couldnt afford the expensive ram yet - will upgrade in about three weeks when pay day comes  )

The PC automatically boots to XP and Leo is accessed through the f12 boot menu (im sure it could be the other way around but this is they way i wanted it)

This was the first computer i have ever built and as such this probably took me a little longer than most but i thought i should report my install so others like me could benefit. First off i would like to say thanks to everyone on this forum because every issue i came across seemed to be discussed and/or have a guide posted and that is just fantastic. After a few days of hardcore research i took the plunge and bought the components and i have to say that now it is setup i am very happy with my new hackintosh/PC. This setup is highly recomended.

Quick recap of install issues : -

-When installing kalyway without AHCI enabled in the BIOS, hard drives are recognised only as 128Gb instead of 250 when booting to mac or kalyway CD

- Solution - Turn on AHCI and then boot to kalyway CD - drives will be recognised as external but will be the correct size. partition and install through kalyway cd even though they appear external and then turn off ahci or find the AHCI external drive fix which is located somewhere on the forum. If you wish to continue with AHCI drives in your bios for both Leo and XP then you will need the correct intel matrix storage drivers for the mobo (i am still working on this now, once i have the solution ill edit this post), otherwise dont choose AHCI or be stuck having to change the bios every time you change operating systems (not that painfull i know, but annoying none the less)

-Intel Q6600 recognised but appears as "unknown 2.4 GHz" in about this mac

-solution - supplied by BJMoose (thanks so much!) in post No. 7 found at http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...c=86490&hl=

-Sound doesnt work - find the Alc889a kexts by googling with the term "site:insanelymac.com" added at the end without the quote marks. - insert into kext helper and then repair disk permissions and reboot.

If, like me, you wish to have windows xp dual booted on this mother board, be aware that there are no drivers for the onboard sound which work in XP SP3 - this caused me a couple of hours of pain. I have since discovered that SP2 works flawlessly so i recomend it highly.

(sorry if this info is obvious to some, but i thought it would be useful for newbies like me when i started)

I would like to give special thanks to kalyway (of course) for the great release, this was my first go at a hackintosh ( and building a computer at all) and the release was really easy to use. I would also like to thank mtotho for his guide which features some info on the gigabyte boards (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=83689) and all the other people who have helped make this forum such a great resource. I have enjoyed this project so much, if anyone else is interested in a setup anything like mine, feel free to contact me for info.

thanks again everyone
