Hi, I finally got round to getting a SATA-IDE adapter today so i could actually boot off the dvd

The install went fine, but now when it boots up i get the kernel error "hold down the power button for a few seconds.."

Just wondering if anyone knows what the most likely cause/solution is?

Thanks for any help

The cause could be just about anything.

First thing to try is booting with -x see if you get anywhere.

If not then boot with -v and you can see what the problem is.

don't want to sound patronising but if you don't know how. Hit F8 at boot then type -v then hit return.

It worked!! with -x anyway. Thanks so much

This is safe boot though right? Do you think I'll always have to boot this way?

And don't worry about sounding patronising i pretty much have little to no idea what I'm doing, just ever since I got my macbook I love OSX, I just couldn't go back to vista
