GeForce 7300 died, Need new one!

I currently have Leopard 10.5.1 or 2 dont rem. but ma my current video start acting up and i need to buy new one any suggestions? i m looking for actully XFX PVT73GUGE3 GeForce 7600GT but cant relly find it online. can someone help me out ASAP. i need good video card with no compatibility issue. Thankx alot in advance.

I believe 7600GT doesn't work (I am not very sure),but these does the work:

 

--->GeForce 6600GT (128 Mb)

--->GeForce 8600GT (256 Mb)

--->GeForce 8400GS (256 Mb)

--->GeForce 7300GS (512 Mb)

--->GeForce 7300GT

--->GeForce 8800GT (512 Mb)

--->GeForce 8800 GTS

--->GeForce 7900 GT

 

and some others...

another question how do i remove drive and install this new drivers for this card if i decide to get this one? because most likely after i install the card it woulnt detect ( gone need to install drivers). any suggestion. how to?

I never have done this,but maybe is more safe if you put your new card,boot with -s and delete all GeForce extensions related (You also can do this from the terminal if you boot with -x).You will enter in VESA mode.Then,install the new extensions that support your new card

i screwed my self up big time because i changed my booting mood to GUI insted of jst text so now i dont get any booting option second, if i jst install my current driver gone try to detect my Current video card device id, etc. if it fails it jst gone give me kernel panic attack.

That is another issue ;) ..Before you put the new card,delete all the .kext like this.

 

1. Boot from the DVD

2. open the Terminal and type

 

mount -uw /
cd   /Volumes/"Leo or your HDD name"/System/Library/Extensions/
rm -rf   GeForce*.kext NVDA*.kext
Reboot

 

Now put your new card adn try the update.

lol yea i know but THanks alot man really appricated it ;). gone try it out tom first thing in morning, cuz its 2am n best buy is not open 24hrs. lol otherwise iw ould be there. lol Thanks again.

my XFX PV-T73G-UGF3 7600GT work fine on 10.5.1 with qe/ci enabled.
