I've used the excellent Kalyway combo updater (10.5.1 -> 10.5.2), replaced the kernel with one of the ToH IRC 9.2.0 ones (#10.5, EFI sleep kernel) and copied the System.kext from the directory which came with the combo update.

I now have a folder called "Backups" in the root directory which contains a number of kexts including AppleACPIPlatform.kext. Oddly, the version numbers (eg 1.1.0 on that kext) do not match the ones in my backup (1.0.3), the one presently installed (also 1.0.3) or the one in the combo update directory (1.2.0).

Does anyone know where this directory has come from and what it contains? (ie are these patched kexts or not?) I didn't create it myself (my backups are elsewhere). I can't find much on search (though search on this forum is presently broken). Whilst I'm happy that the upgrade seems to have gone smoothly I've lost my battery display (despite having the leopard PowerManagement.bundle) and the system refuses to boot with either the 1.1.0 or 1.2.0 versions (though I've only tried replacing the AppleACPIPowermanagement.kext and not any others at the same time).

Also, assuming the 1.1.0 version is one I really should have installed (the threads on battery icons seem to indicate I should have it, though let it pretend to be 1.0.5) - does anyone have any guides on getting it installed and working? Are there any other kexts that need to go with it?

I'm using an Acer Travelmate C110 (Pentium M 1GHz, 512Mb, replaced wifi card, dual boot with WinXP via Darwin bootloader)
