Commercial application HotSpot Shield currupts network config

Hello everybody,

 

I am new here. On 10.4.6 JAS.

 

My problem is that after installation automatic DHCP config does not work anymore with my Ralink USB NIC. On Linux I would run dhcpcd or dhclient but in Darwin I don't know how exactly this is carried out. (dhclient en1) ?

 

Moreover I want to find out what HSS has changed in the config files, and what it does exactly. After a fresh install of 10.4.6 shouldn't there be these two entries in /etc/hostconfig:

 

HOSTNAME=-AUTOMATIC-

ROUTER=-AUTOMATIC-

 

This nasty script + kext (foo.tun) does a couple of things silently, doesnt have a proper logfile (at least I didn't find one), and connot be uninstlled in terms of getting the same system state as before installation. I get the impression it hides some things from nosy admins.
