Lagerstatten
Hi Everyone, I'm trying to follow the tutorial posted on Lifehacker by Adam Posh. I can install to 100% via Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD. After it reboots to the grey apple screen with the spinning icon at the bottom it goes into a Kernel Panic. Here are my hardware specs Asus P5W-DH Delux (BIOS: 2603) Intel E4500 Core 2 Duo 2.2GHZ 4GB DDR2 Ram 6400(2x2GB Muskin) Seagate 1TB SATA Hard Drive Samsung 20x DVD+/- RW SATA Antec Sonata Case with 500W PSU Any help? Suggestions? Thanks! Mainly trying to set this box up so I can use a "Mac" at work since the company is entirely Windows based for Autodesk software. -Thinh
Coadey
Unplug all unncessary hardware, extra drives, etc, disable AHCI, LAN, Sound in BIOS to isolate any component issue. If none are found, boot from Kalyway and open Disk Utility. Repair permissions, then mount the drive. Open Terminal, then: sudo su nano /Volumes/YOURVOLUME/System/Library/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist Change "Kernel Flags" to "-v", Control-X to save, and reboot off the HD. You'll now get a more informative boot. Post any interesting details here.
Lagerstatten
Figured it out, was using the wrong kext files for my videocard. I have the XFX GeForce 8800 GT 512mb Dual DVI. Installed NVInstaller and that fixed the problem afterwards (I just installed using Kalyway without any video settings checked).
