enabling qe and ci (kalyway 7600gs pcie 512mb)

edit <i have since got the card recognised as 512mb without a problem but still with no qe ci>

 

folks,i'm sorry to do this, and i know there are relevant threads, but i've been through them all, and even drawn on the help of some successful forum members, but with no joy.

 

the story is this.

 

i have an asrock conroe 775 motherboard

core2duo 2.4ghz e6600

4x1gb ddr677 ram

 

and the kicker,

 

a 512mb pcie asus en7600gs 16x graphics card with dual dvi (0x039210de)

 

 

 

 

 

my goal is to get the card to work under my working install of kalyway 10.5.1

 

 

i can get the card to work very easily, without ANY edits at all,,by using punk92 installer using either nvinjectgo or nvinject for 512mb cards.also with the natit package.

 

the results are dual dvis, extended desktop. fully changable resolutions with correct display model detected.

 

the card IS recognised as 512mb, but with NO QE and with software CI.

 

 

 

 

 

 

to get qe/ci working, i have tried adding device id (0x039210de) as written in brackets, and with the extra &amp string.

this did not work, but the files i tried modding without change are as follows.

 

nvinject/natit (whichever i was trying at the time)

nvdanv40hal

nvdanv50hal

nvdaresman

 

 

two points. the reason i also edited 50hal is because it shows under-v as being loaded, and is also shown under extensions in system profiler (don't know why) hal40 is there also.

 

the second point. if i edit geforce.kext in any way shape or form,,,i either get an immediate kernel panic, or i get boot to black/blue screen, with the famous frozen pointer and the moving pointer too.

 

 

at this stage i am forced to -s and remove all kexts and start again.

 

 

another edit that i tried, was adding my cards nvcap value. this was obtained using the package from nvinject site, and the bios rom from asus.

 

the values i ended up with were

or

 

04000000 00000100 06000000 00000007 00000000

neither of which had any impact at all.

 

i have been using an appropriate plist editor, and chmod/chown/repairing everytime i move.

 

 

 

 

bottom line is, there are a million ways to get it working as a 512mb card with full res change and dual dvi, without qe ci, but i cant find a way to get qe/ci going under any circumstance.

 

 

if anyone can offer info specific to this card/setup, it would be greatly appreciated.

Presuming your NVinject is working (e.g. you can actually open some 3D apps), you can try a patched AppleSMBIOS.kext to report the proper size of your video card.
