outZider
Hey, everyone: I have an odd Prescott SSE3 processor, nonx, that I've tried using the 1.0 patch with. With nonx, cpuid fix, and rtc fix, I get a kernel panic immediately after it goes from text mode to framebuffer and displays that the kernel is loading. The panic occurs after the RTC is initialized, and calls panic at 0x0019CFFC. Anyone run into this?
gt500
Tried replacing the AppleSMBIOS.kext ? And maybe try booting with -x
outZider
Had the SMBIOS in there. Turns out by shutting HyperThreading off in the BIOS, the durn thing boots.
Cortilein
Same thing here - I have to turn off HT in BIOS when I want to boot 10.4.4 or 10.4.5, otherwise the boot process hangs and restarts the computer automatically (I have the same Prescott P4 CPU). I can live with it, but I wonder how much processor power I am wasting by turning HT off - in 10.4.3 8F1111 I did not have this problem. I guess this is an issue with the new dual core support integrated into OSX. The second (virtual) P4 processor is recognized during bootup as a second (physical) CPU. I have tried different kernels with no luck. Maybe someday there will be a patch for this issue... hopefully!
Cortilein
Found a workaround by testing the bootoptions suggested by REVENGE in this thread. I simply turned on HT in BIOS again and entered "idlehalt=0 cpus=1" as boot options. Booted smoothly into 10.4.5 then - XBench total score dropped by roughly 3 points (only) afterwards. I just love this forum! Gimme a bug-free driver for my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro now and I'll be all set!
udecker
Same panic for me - before I installed OS X, CPU-Z told me that I have SSE3 - however, when the system boots, it's doesn't recognize it (it's not listed in the CPU features). Only until I applied the SSE3 patch did I get it to boot past then... I don't have any HT options in my bios, and those idle and cpus settings did nothing for me.
