rakusuira
Hi guys! I installed 10.4.3 using the JaS 4.2 dvd. It successfully booted off the cd and installed 100% with no errors. My setup is a Dell Dimension 8300 Intel P4 3200 HT Northwood. After the install, my computer rebooted into Windows XP. The hard drive setup is: Drive 0 Primary SATA 250GB - Windows XP Primary Master Drive IDE 30GB - Mac OS X (I can no longer see this drive through Windows XP, I reformated it with Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)) Through the dell bios, I selected Boot Setup (F12) and I tried booting OS X by selecting Primary Master Drive. The DOS cursor blinks indefinitely and my computer hangs. Any help as to how I can get OS X to boot would be greatly appreciated! If you guys need more information about my setup ask =). Thanks! rakusuira
I got it to boot now by using the 10.4.3 DVD and typing: boot: mach_kernel rd=disk0s2 -v but i get the following error: USBF: 43,13 [0x25b0600]::start - USB HID Interface #1 of device Dell USB Keyboard @ Hub 4 (0x0) still waiting for root device... do I need to connect the second hd with os x to the primary ide channel? rakusuira
Disconnected the USB keyboard, seems as if there is a problem with my SATA drive: AppleIntel ICHxSATA: ICH5 SATA (CMD 0xfe00), CTR 0xfe10, IRQ 18, BM 0xfea0) still waiting for root device Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9522-1043-successful-install-boot-problems/#findComment-59399 Share on other sites
rakusuira
Sorry for so many replies.. but I keep making progress... I disconnected my SATA drive with Windows XP on it, and from the dell bios boot menu told it to boot off the primary master drive.. os x booted successfully and I was very impressed with its speed... a major problem though.. it says i need to connect a keyboard. I found and connected a PS/2 keyboard because my USB one didn't let os x boot.. but still no go. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks for your time! jbjonas
or try using your ps/2 keyboard with a ps/2 mouse... (I'm asuming you are using a USB mouse now?) For some reason on x86 hardware, it doesn't like you to mix and match USB and PS/2 kb & mouse, just one or the other... Got me as to why?? I haven't found a PS/2 mouse yet.. so I just did not have any mouse connected, will that cause problems? xyhh: i tried that as well as restarting with the usb connected, same with ps/2 keyboard Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9522-1043-successful-install-boot-problems/#findComment-59420 Share on other sites

rakusuira
When my SATA drive with Windows XP is connected.. booting OS X 10.4.3 gives me the following panic error: panic(cpu 0 caller 0xC0321D8B): unable to find driver for this platform: "ADP2,1". Do I need a specific driver or kext for my SATA drive? When I searched through the forums I found that nForce sata controllers aren't supported atm, hopefully my intel one should work?
