Schmacintosh
I used Temperature Monitor with OSX86 extensions and it reports 60 - 67 for each core when idle Is there anway I can get this down? Thanks for your help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95177-is-there-anyway-to-reduce-cpu-temp-in-leopard/ Share on other sites
UnixRoot
Delete the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext in your /System/Library/Extentions/ Folder and repair Disk permissions. After a reboot your temps should be much lower. Sunil Thomas
Did this method work for you? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95177-is-there-anyway-to-reduce-cpu-temp-in-leopard/#findComment-679615 Share on other sites
lamder
"Temperature Monitor with OSX86 extensions" by this do you mean the SpeedIt stuff by InCrew? On my iATKOS 10.5.1 , I tried installing CoreDuoTemp to get at my cpu's temp (it uses SpeedIt I believe), but I read somewhere about CoreDuoTemp not working for Leopard 10.5.1. Just wondering what is the alternative to use instead. Also, does it matter if I removed powermanagament and thermal kexts in my installation? Schmacintosh
@Sunil Thomas - should be able to tell you this evening (long story) @ Lamder - you can find Temperature Monitor at Bresink - dot - de When it installs it recognizes you have OSX86 and offers to install an extra component so that it can read your core temps Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95177-is-there-anyway-to-reduce-cpu-temp-in-leopard/#findComment-680511 Share on other sites
Schmacintosh
Well with the Kalyway 10.5.1 install AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext had already been moved to a folder called Backup Someone else at IM suggested deleting AppleCPUThermo.kext, but that just resulted in stopping Temperature Monitor from running so I couldn't read the temp anyway. I restored AppleCPUThermo.kext and Temperature Monitor still didn't work so I AppZapped it and re-installed and I'm now back to square one. Still looking for a remedy - perhaps getting speedstep working will reduce idle temp?
