I tried installing Zephiroths Mac OS X 10.5.2 + EFI on my notebook after formating my HDD and installing XP and I encountered a very weird problem.

After making a FAT32 partition i booted from the installation DVD and It stuck on the first screen (The one with the apple logo and the loading icon underneath it). I waited for about half an hour and then reseted.

I tried again and while i passed the first screen when i selected english and pressed next it stuck there.

The weird thing is that in both situation my DVD drive stoped responding. No noise, no lights and it didnt open when i pressed the button. I tried opening it (with a pin) and closing it again but the installation didnt continue.

I tried several times again, but each time on one of these two screens my drive stops working and the installation stops there.

Im quite positive that my DVD drive works fine (on windows at least).

System specs:

Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A1650G

Processor: AMD Turion 64 Mobile 800MHz (SSE3)

RAM: 1gb

Graphics card: ATI mobility radeon Xpress 200Series

HDD: Samsung HM100JC (IDE)

DVD drive: NEC DVD-RW ND-6750A

I hope someone can help me because its going to be an awfully long time before my real mac ships. Thanks

Some more info

I used -v and i got the following message: "ERROR: FireWire unable to determine security mode; defaulting to full-secure" and then it freezes and my DVD stops responding

Googling the error i found that other peolpe had the same problem but some of them managed to install leopard without getting rid of it.

I also found and tried the following (unsuccessfully)

-typing "cpus=1"

-setting USB 2.0 to USB 1.0 on BIOS (mine has no such setting)

-dissabling firewire on BIOS (no such setting either, although my PC has a firewire port)

Please guys someone help me out because its driving me crazy
