setup assistant crashes?

Ive got an amd 3800+ which is SSE3 i believe and 768MB ddr and on board graphics

Im using ide master (ATA drive) and slave (DVD Drive)

Hard drive contains one partition named 'mac' where i installed osx

I used 10.4.6 JAS mac os x86

 

Ive managed to install and boot from hdd then:

 

When i boot i get past 'starting mac os x' then it just loops showing the mouse then not showing the mouse

Entered verbose mode and it says: login windows started, setupassistant crashed , login window started, setup assitant crashed, and goes on continually

 

log file shows Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)

CODE: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0X0001) AT ( 0X998328C0)

 

Ive searched everywhere , any idea on whats causing this??

* Also ive just seen that some people say with this install to install all the options (intel AND amd) to get it to boot properly while others say not to. Before maybe destroying my install does anyone have any suggestions?
