seye
Hi I bought a 32GB Transcend SATA SSD and wanted to install OSX on it. The drive is hooked up to a ICH9R controller. The performance of the drive is rather good when used as a data drive (non-boot). But as soon as I boot from that drive the read/write speed drop to around 16 kB/s. A fresh installation of OSX takes about 5 minutes to boot. (Compared to 8 seconds on a normal drive). I did two installs. One retail and one from the Kalyway DVD. So far I've only tested with EFI bios and GUID partition table. I'll try a MBR install today. Maybe it will be faster. I'm also going to test-install windows to see what happens there. Has anyone encountered similiar experiences with a SSD? Would it work better with a faster SLC disk instead of a MLC disk? Or is it simply a bad unit? The disk only has a SATA-1 interface. Could this be the problem? Regards Simon Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94672-installation-on-ssd-slooooow/ Share on other sites
