Hello there!

i got a problem with my osx installation on my dell dimension computer. :/

(512mb ram, 2ghz p4, dell board (intel chipset afaik; install disk 10.4.3; native installation (no vmware))

when it boots, it says me to reboot the computer.

i've asked a friend and he told me that this might be a problem with my IRQ's,

Jumper Settings of my Devices or that my HDD is not primary master.

I've fixed all that stuff:

hdd primary master

dvd secondary master

cd secondary slave

i really dont know what else to do :/

maybe there is a problem with my mainboard chipset?

helü me please.

Intel 810 is what I have and that works. It's obvious there's something about the 850E that the kernel extensions aren't handling right. I don't have the exact solution as to whether patching would help, nor what patch might be applicable in that case. I'm still struggling with sound on mine.

In your Bios, do you have the drive setting set at AHCI/Raid, or ATA/Raid? I know I have to change this setting to (winXP) AHCI/Raid, and (MacOSx86) to ATA/Raid. I have no idea why it won't work alone but that is the way I have to do it.

Oh by the way, I have a Dell 8400. I did forget to mention that I have 4 SATA drives and 1 PATA drive in my system. Two of the SATA's are devoted solely for the OS'es, one for Winxp & the other for MacOsx86 10.4.3. I will be updating to 10.4.4 very soon.

The only problems I have with my Dell, running OSX, is Audigy 2 soundcard doesn't work, internal Broadcom BCM57xx Gigabit Ethernet doesn't work, and ATI x800 XT graphics card is not fully supported. Other than that, I see all my drives, and am able to access them, and I have, at the moment, a xBench score of 69.7. I think overall I am really surprised at how well this system is running.

Oh one other thing, I have a 925XE based motherboard.

Anything else I can help with, let me know. Also, let me know how, and if, my suggestion helped.
