Recently my room mate has pruchased mac book pro and he has recieved the MAC OSX installation DVD in the package...is it possible for me to install it on my laptop (specs are given below) ...as i am really impresssed with the looks and performance of the OS....?

 

Brand: Acer Aspire 5630

Processor: Intel Centrino Dual Core

RAM: 2 GB

Graphics: Geforce Go 7300 256MB

HDD: 120 GB

OS: Currenly Running Win XP and Ubuntu (Dual boot)

NoPe you can't install an unpatched version of OSX on a PC laptop. Yep you can install a hacked version. I recommend JaS ver 10.4.8 to you. Search for the torrent and when you've downloaded the file burn it to DVD. Kalyway Leopard will probably work on your laptop but it's pretty bloated, loads slowly and won't finish loading using battery on my laptop. Make your life simple and dedicate a hard drive to OSX before you try partitioning & dual booting.

Once everything is working then take it to the next level. So many people in this forum are trying to over complicate without getting a basic install to work.
