colinstu
I've tried in the past of downloading these huge OSx86 torrents, giving up because I get tired of waiting. The sticky told me to post in the Tiger forum, so here I am. My parts: Abit IP35 Pro Core 2 Duo E6400 OC'd to 3.2GHz (400x8) 2x1GB DDR2 800 4-4-4-12 Corsair XMS2 GeForce 8800GTS 512 by eVGA 2x36GB Raptors, and a 40GB IDE drive (I do not want this stuff to touch the raptors, don't want it to screw up the mbr or anything) Sony DVD/CD burner I'd like to run either Tiger or Leopard, whatever is compatiable with all the stuff. I already downloaded the Kalyway 10.5.1 and burned it to DVD, but at boot it gives me "L 99 99 99 99, etc", I googled it and it seems to be a LILO problem. Thanks! I'll answer whatever you need to know. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94437-new-to-this-what-should-i-download/ Share on other sites
einhornchen
Try using the standard bootloader that was put onto the kalway dvd. Basically get rid of LILO. With your hardware, you should be able to run any of the more prominent Tiger or Leo installations pretty easily. colinstu
I downloaded Kalyway, uncommpressed it with Stuffit, burned the 3.5GB ISO to DVD, tried booting it. I didn't change the bootloader on it, and XP is the only thing I got on my drive - LILO isn't touching anything. Wait... I did have PCLinuxOS installed on the 40GB drive once, and since I had that to attempt to boot after DVD at the time, it just skipped the DVD because it couldn't boot for some reason and tried to boot off the old HD. What program should I use to decompress the file, and what to burn the ISO? Infrarecorder worked for bootable DVD's in the past for me...
