Daywalker San
Anyway, over the past few days i have been trying to install OS X onto my laptop using Zephyroth Leopard 10.5.2 V1, i disable all the optional components on install, but after waiting 5 hours for the install to reach near completion, it hangs at around the 95% mark, saying 5 minuets remaining, and after leaving it for several hours in that state im sure that it had no intention of moving on from their. my system specifications Acer 3053WXMi 512 Mb RM 60Gb Hdd (30Gb Windows, 30Gb OS X) 1.8 Ghz AMD Sempron (Mobile) DVD-RW Drive AMD Radeon Xpress 1100 i will be upgrading my ram to 2Gb soon, so i dont know if the current ammount is an issue also, i see in guides and from experiences that install should take like an hour, is their a reason that mine takes 5? (in all probability, i guess its due to my abysmal specs ) I did do an search for what i needed but i couldent find anything, sorry if i missed something also, hi to all! UnaClocker
If it's any consolation.. My AMD machine is hanging around the same point. Zephy rev. 1 It's an MSI K8NGM2 motherboard with 1 gig ram, Athlon 64 3500 using IDE DVD drive, and SATA hard drive. I get to the 1 minute remaining.. And something is freezing it up. arthur5005
If it's any consolation.. My AMD machine is hanging around the same point. Zephy rev. 1It's an MSI K8NGM2 motherboard with 1 gig ram, Athlon 64 3500 using IDE DVD drive, and SATA hard drive. I get to the 1 minute remaining.. And something is freezing it up. I just upgraded motherboards because my onboard audio blew on my old board. Both are nforce chipsets *shudder* (410/430 on the old old 560 on the new, Both AMD) With my new motherboard I'm having the exact same problem, where no matter what DVD I burned it seemed like it would seize up on the most random things after getting sometimes from 15 to 5 minutes left in the install, blaming 'Media Damage' after waiting for sometimes up to an hour for the installer to report back. I noticed my installation was going much slower than previous installs, and that my SATA DVD drive after being subject to being ignored for over a couple minutes (while the installer was extracting on the HD) would take forever to eventually respond to the installer's needs (after watching what seemed like very very sparatic Install Logs, something you can open up during the install). My new motherboard comes with tonso options in the BIOS. So I changed my DVD and HD read type from AUTO to UDMA4 and 6, respectively (the highest ones I could find on the list) and then all of a sudden, no problems installing!! w00t. installation went much smoother.. but now my system crashes on boot, loads up a whole bunch of kernel extensions... then just as it loads the EFI emulation and then the Darwin kernel, and then just before changin to a text framebuffer.. BANG a restart.. I'm sure there's a way around it, (sifting through forum solutions as we speak), but I thought I'd share that I had a similar experience, and that may be a solution for you. Daywalker San
Well, while poking around various wiki's and archives, i found this little peice of information. will see if it works later on. Installation Issue: Hanging at 1 Minute Left Issue: Installer hangs at about "1 minute left" Solution: Once the installer hangs at 1 min left, Reboot back into the DVD installation in the same manor as before. Do NOT format the drive, Relabel or enter the disk utility at all. Continue through the installation, this time it will finish installing successfully, and quicker as it will only install the missing files.
