I have seen several threads on netkas.org's site on this but not any CONCISE

method despite some success stories and many people still lost trying.

Basically an explanation of how Natit works with the ATIRadeonX2000.kext

and what needs to be modified with what version, how Triakis (ATINDRV?)

fits into all of this, and whether one must use the gfxutil program and how

to properly generate a plist hex string to be inserted into com.apple.Boot.plist

would be of great help I think not just to me but to everyone trying to get

the newer ATI/ ATI HD cards going on Leopard. If someone could take the

time to just explain the differences in the two approaches and what is needed

then I think many people would benefit. Quick references to scattered forum

posts that aren't well content linked is something that there has been far

too much of, especially on this topic. I would be happy myself when this is

all said and done to create some kind of single digest but hopefully some

replies to this topic that are rich and well written would be something useful

to point people at.

I myself have a Visiontek ATI Radeon 3870x2 on a Gigabyte M57SLI-S4 motherboard

running Zepthyroth's 10.5.2rev2 build. On occasion I can get netkas's special Natit

to bring the card up in dumb mode (no QE/CI) depending on the direction of the

wind outside (often I get a white or black screen instead). Editing the ATIRadeonX2000.kext

file yield with the proper (950f) devid and or patching the binary yields dull to

interesting visual failures. Attempts at following the gfxutil instructions on netkas's

forums have proven almost impossible to follow due to omissions in explanation of key

steps as much as I have tried

Thanks anyone for any useful input here!
