Lord Norr Posted March 16, 2008 Share Posted March 16, 2008 For as long as I knew about Leopard on a PC ive been trying my hardest to get the damn thing to install, let alone actually run. For weeks i tried different BIOS settings, SATA drive combinations and different types of install, Leo4All, zepheroth etc. I narrowed the problem down to my Plextor SATA DVD drive. Getting to the install options took almost 30 minutes using this drive. So I used an old DVD drive IDE I borrowed from work and noticed a slight improvement. I then finally managed to format a partition (20 gigs) into a format the installer could see and then formatted it to HFS+. Perfect so far. But now when I get to clicking install various problems happen. I have taken loads of pictures to better explain what's going on. firstly a set of pictures from the verbose install. If you notice anything which could better explain what's going on that would be amazing. This is using Leo4All Then after an age it finally gets into the main installer.. So this brings up the annoying error. So i tried 10.5.1 I had lying around. This time its different. This time the installer just stopped. The HD light stayed on, the DVD light was off and the computer did nothing. I had to reset. It stayed on that screen for 10 minutes and didnt move. Any thoughts? Im almost at breaking point. And second error: you have to move your mouse around the screen every 2 minutes!! Lord Norr Posted March 16, 2008 Author Share Posted March 16, 2008 I did click skip and then a second later the error message popped up. Ill try the mouse moving idea. See how that goes. My only worry is, the first Leo4all had many customisable install options such as ATI drivers, Nforce drivers etc. The 2nd disk didnt have too many. Is that a problem? Chrillss Posted March 16, 2008 Share Posted March 16, 2008 Yeah, moving your mouse is important. I think it is because otherwise the screensaver goes on, and it isn't supported. Also, DONT install any drivers etc. ! That may the problem in this case. So test doing a clean install without drivers. BTW, have you tried the iAktos distro? If no, give it a try. Lord Norr Posted March 16, 2008 Author Share Posted March 16, 2008 I tried installing 10.5.1 again. The same problem happened no matter what I did with my mouse. When I tried to save a log of what happened it wouldnt write to my D drive, I tried my new "mac" partition and it just froze up. As you can see in the shot. It just seems to be having trouble writing data to the mac partition. The split second 10.5.2 tries to write any data to the partition this happens. And skip disk check, it's a waste of time generally.
