palebluedot
press F8 soon as you can and at Darwin boot loader enter -v to see verbose boot info....will let you know what your system is doing and where you may have hung up. palebluedot
what do you consider the 'Apple Load screen'. The grey background with Apple logo and the spinner at the bottom? Just out of curiosity, are you using a USB keyboard? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9392-how-long/#findComment-58523 Share on other sites
Mac OSX Coder
Like Palebluedot ask, apple load screen that's grey? or is there a blue bar somewhere? (it shouldn't if it's INITIAL load...) It's also important you use a USB keyboard, is it freezing up or is it like a endless load? robhim
the grey background with Apple logo and the spinner at the bottom yeah thats exactly what i was talking about. i let it sit this time for like 15 minutes before restarting. and sometimes my dvd won't even boot... i am using the keyboard thats on my labtop. palebluedot
hmm, i'm stumped. you should be able to hit F8 before that screen appears. Unless we can get you in verbose mode, its kinda impossible to tell what your system is hanging on. Are you not able to get into the Darwin Boot Loader at all? When you hit F8 (before the Grey screen), it should switch to text mode and say something like "Welcome to darwin". There should be a command prompt. R. Bear Helms
Kernel traps tend to be memory problems (too little), CPU problems (SSE3 emulator wasn't installed or you lack even SSE2 functionality), or the most likely, a bad burn. The JaS 4.2b patcher has a MD5 checksum program included and the listings of the MD5 checksums of the 10.4.3 install disc all along the way through all 4 phases of conversion. If these don't match, don't expect it to do anything good. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9392-how-long/#findComment-58617 Share on other sites
palebluedot
Did you check all your hardware to see if it is known working in OSX86? As RBH noted, you may have a bad patch or dvd. Metrogirl
That SAM Multimedia error is a dead giveaway. You're trying to install from a coaster. Toss it and burn another one - and check the MD5 after burning. So many of these problems are caused by bad burns, and OSX is incredibly picky about the DVD media and the drive.
