cashman
I yust replaced my 10.4.4 STI drivers with the 10.4.5 ATI drivers and the tearing probem is still present... We must be doing something wrong or something ? I have the strange feeling that it is not an driver problem... As i said in a post before: The cursor is not QuartzExtreme Accelerated because it has no shadow underneath. And that is exactly the same if you dont have QE (ibook G3 snow 500mhz ? )... cyclonefr
he means the ATI mouse tearing bug = when u mouse the cursor it keep a pixel bug on the screen and scrolling down in safari for example make a blurry bug on the screen....btw u forgot to mention the mouse distorsion problem when exiting an OPENGL app such as WARCRAFT 3 , UT2004, ILIFE 06 slideshow etc u can try i agree with u sthg must be wrong but inside the 9800 driver let me arguee : i guess the driver doesnt work properly because it's simply and old 9800 driver without anychange from the beta test of OSX86 simply the X1000.Kext got fixed and doesnt do that for 10.4.4 users. It can be surely fixed by some Apple guy or Maxxuss Genius, comparing the X1000.Kext info the 9800.kext : some instructions must be missing causing the mouse tearing that's it u can try to compare 9800 kext from 10.4.3 and .5 i bet that it doesnt change from a byte size! cyclonefr
okay some news from irc : in fact it seems that MOUSE TEARING bug is still there in 10.4.4 even on X1600 i guess people dont open their eyes : let me explain : first i ask the one who doesnt have the mouse tearing to launch UT2004 and tell me after exiting the mouse works secondly if no1 has the resolution menu in the preference panel that means ATINDRV directory (bundle etc) isnt load so doesnt working like it should on REAL IMAC then take the conclusion u want but i bet this can be fix by having a look by Maxxuss into why the ATINDRV directory (located into kext dir) isnt load at startup or cannot be ps to mod: can u move this topic to the patch and fix Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9390-is-someone-working-on-the-ati-mouse-tearing-problem/#findComment-59032 Share on other sites

Bug
Someone on this thread said they had full functionality without tearing; http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...809entry67809 I tried the patch, replacing the default with my 4148 id for a powercolor 9800se 256bit AGP 128mb card. No go, stopped at loading login window when running in -v. Had to change back, but it looks like it works for the PCI-e cards.
