OK, I got Zeph 10.5.2 AMD working on my machine, no problem, but a friend is having some more issues. Any help is GREATLY appreciated, we've been at this for hours:

HARDWARE:

MOBO: Gigabyte A-K8N-SLI (K8 Triton), nforce4 SLI, socket 939

CPU: AMD Athlon64 3200+ socket 939, sse3

GPU: evga 6800 GS 256mb, PCI-E

RAM: 1gb Corsair, ValueSelect

HDD: Seagate 500gb EIDE (PATA), set to Primary Master

CD/DVD: Lite-on DVD-DL RW/CD-RW

PROBLEMS:

Freezes/stops installing with 1 minute left in the install, everytime. Except, oddly, the first time. But every subsequent attempt has resulted in a freeze with one minute remaining. We reset and try booting anyway. When we do, we also get a KP during the loading screen.

Using -v, we see that the system stops loading at the following prompt when running the basic kernel:

localhost usr/sbin/ocspd[67]: starting

OR, after trying again with the ToH kernel 9.2.0:

localhost mDNSresponder mDNSresponder-170 (Jan 4 2008 10:04:07)[33] starting

(not sure what the date is, we tried installing this March 15, 2008)

We have tried formatting to both MBR & GUID partition tables, using the appropriate EFI v8 bootloader.

GUID will not even let us get to the screen to launch osX and select our boot partition or boot options; it just doesn't even recognize it. MBR will get us to that screen, start loading, but then KP on loading with the above error messages.

We have tried default kernel, ToH kernel 9.2.0, and are trying kernel 9.1.0 as I type, but not feeling so hopeful. I think we have all the right drivers checked, but *maybe* I'm wrong and there's a problem there? Really not sure what is going on... biggest problems again, are:

- freeze @ 1 min left in install

- kp on load, consisntely

- GUID not supported? Must use MBR

Thanks for the help!
